Bonus +3 points this week for those who DON’T live in Reston if you post a photograph it with your bike at a different angle than I did below!;-)

This was blooming in Georgetown, by the corner of Wisconsin and M St. I think a peony.

What a fun riding day. Went down to the Wharf to see the "I'm Speaking" crocheted mural. It's beautiful and ephemeral, so if you want to see it, you'd better get there soon (i.e., it's made of yarn...). Here's a photo of it, but that's not my submission for today.

We also went up to see the Amanda Gorman mural in the Dupont Circle area so LeftyLaura could harvest those extra points. As we left it, I saw this and decided it was a perfect anti-climactic public art piece for submission.

It's not "The Big Chair" of Anacostia, but a more demure chair, although this one proclaims "Humanity's Throne" across its front.

As a Restonian since 1978, I hereby submit my Youth Poet Laureate photo of Amanda Gorman for consideration of 3 pointless points for traveling outside Reston for Art. Let’s see, second time this week in DC. I’m trying to break the stereotype that Reston folks only leave Reston by car.

    Default Yardart

This really tall tree sculpture looks to be topped with a cormorant(?). It is in a very large yard, behind a very high fence, and (maybe) contains a sand volleyball court.

I have so enjoyed hunting for public art and seeing what's around the area. To thank all of you, here's my gift to you -- a Public Art bike tour of Leesburg.

It is *possible* to get there without a car, but makes for a long day. To do that you take the Silver Line to Wiehle-Reston East and hop on the W&OD going west. (Hopefully sometime in 2021 Phase II will open and this will be easier). It's 16 miles to Leesburg from Reston via the W&OD. If you're driving out to start this, I recommend parking at the Rt. 28 trailhead parking lot or the Belmont Ridge Rd. trailhead parking lot. This route starts at Belmont Ridge - but it's easy to add some miles by starting further east.

If you start at Belmont Ridge Rd, the route is 13.4 miles round trip.

    Enjoy!
