Default Tenth annual holiday lights ride in Alexandria -- Dec. 12-13, 2020

It's that time of year again! Join BPAC and the Alexandria Spokeswomen for a free, family-friendly bike ride or walk around Del Ray to see the holiday lights. This'll be our tenth year doing the holiday lights ride. This year, we're spreading the event across two days and also adding a walking option!

When: Saturday, December 12 or Sunday, December 13. Register for a specific start time starting at 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30 p.m. (if biking) or 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. (if walking) by going to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tenth-a...s-131286971867.

Where: We'll meet at the traffic circle at the south end of Main Line Boulevard, just off the Potomac Yard trail (directly behind or east of George Washington Middle School). The biking route is about 5 miles, very flat, and on neighborhood streets. The walking route is about 1.5 miles, very flat, and on sidewalks and trails.

Who: Riders and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome, including children and youth, but we ask that children younger than 10 be accompanied by an adult.

For everyone's health and safety, we'll be taking the following precautions:
    • breaking into small groups of no more than 10 people (1 ride or walk leader, 1 sweep, and 8 participants)
    • asking participants to sign up in advance for a specific time slot starting at 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30 p.m. (if biking) or 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. (if walking)
    • asking participants to electronically sign the waiver in advance
    • asking everyone to self-screen and not attend if they've experienced symptoms of covid or been exposed to a known covid case within the last 14 days
    • asking people to wear masks at the beginning and end, and also while riding or walking if they can breathe comfortably while doing so
    • asking people to give each other at least 10 feet of space while riding or walking
    • keeping an eye on local covid conditions, and cancelling the event if needed

A million thanks to the Forum members who volunteered to make this event possible!

This is a fun ride every year. Itís a slow roll type of ride so you might want to bring an extra layer to our in during the ride.

Iíll be volunteering on the walks but hope to see the bike forum folks at the starting point.
