Thank you for your interest in promoting cycling at federal facilities!
This is a reminder of the meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Bicycling and Active Transportation.
Please arrive by 2:50 p.m. so we can move you through security and
begin on time at 3 p.m. and end on time at 4 p.m.
Logistics: Enter the EPA West building from Constitution Avenue, just
east of 14th Street NW. Metrorail - Federal Triangle. Capital
Bike Share station - 14th & D St NW / Ronald Reagan Building.
Outdoor bike parking is available near 14th and D Streets. Also, as
we await installation of additional outdoor racks, many cyclists
choose to lock to fixed objects along Constitution Avenue or 14th
Street.
A suggested agenda is attached and pasted below.
Please come prepared to volunteer to help with an identified area of
activity, or suggest a new area of activity.
Your comments, recommendations and questions are most welcome in
advance of the meeting. Also: feel free to forward this message.

I – Introductions, overview, and general celebration of the transformative power of the bike
II - Encouraging compliance with existing guidelines
- Implementing a Successful Bicycle and Active Commuting Program in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area
- Scorecards for federal agencies
- Identification of exemplary agencies and practices
- Assistance and encouragement for agencies with the most needs
III - New guidelines and programs
- Following-up on the 2011 report commissioned by GSA, Bicycling to the Future Federal Workplace in the Washington Region.
- Further guidelines and standards for indoor and outdoor parking and other facilities, bike share, commuter benefits, integration of cycling promotion into agency plans for facilities and for environmental, transportation and health & wellness programs;
- Working with GSA and OPM for government-wide approaches.
IV - Communications and outreach
- FedBikes.org – volunteer needed
- Media outreach for scorecards or awards
- Guest speakers for FedBikes meetings or events
- Coordination with DC Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments
- Expanding the conversation: Engaging Federal networks for facilities managers and health and wellness and other human resource personnel
I've got a meeting I can't get out of that day that lasts until at least 3 pm. However, I am very interested in this topic and hope those in attendance will up date the rest of us.
Bumping this up in case anyone forgot or can make it. Don't confuse me for dirt although o just happen to be wearing pink today.
