Do you have a toddler or young child who’s ready to explore the world? Interested in looking at a traffic garden in action? You’re invited to Arlington’s first Interactive Secret Pop-Up Traffic Garden! BikeArlington will be joining Fionnuala Quinn, Master of Traffic Gardens, in a limited-time, special event celebrating this fun and safe environment for active learning. The pop-up traffic garden will be open to the public on Sunday March 15 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.. It is located in the parking lot behind the Hyatt in Crystal City, in conjunction with the National Bike Summit.

Pssst….what is a traffic garden? Our friend Fionnuala Quinn of Discover Traffic Gardens describes them as ‘a miniature town made up of small sized streets where children learn about roadways and safety. Traffic gardens feature a network of streets that create a fun and safe environment for active learning. They provide a small-scale world to ride bicycles, steer scooters, and drive pedal cars. Children practice bicycling and using roadways, intersections, and crossings in an environment free of motor vehicles.’
