Default Pointless Prize - Adulting (aka errandaneuring if you so fancy) #FS2020Adulting

You gotta go with your gut, that’s all you got. Sometimes it doesn’t work out. That’s the job. – James Greer (okay, so maybe I was watching Jack Ryan Season 2 on Prime when I was writing this…what the heck? I got a bum knee…what SHOULD I be doing…WORKING?) My gut says…eat cupcakes and sponsor a pointless prize I might have had more than a snowballs chance in hell of winning….having said that…

Errandaneuring …a fancy way of saying Adulting? Pointless Prize hashtag: #FS2020Adulting

    Dictionary
    adult·ing
    /əˈdəltiNG,ˈaˌdəltiNG/
    noun
    INFORMAL
    1. the practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane but necessary tasks. On a BICYCLE. (I added that last part…just in case you didn’t know)

    HERE ARE THE RULES:
Pointless prize for doing stuff on your bike you might be tempted to do in your car. I discovered adulting on my bicycle a few years ago when I decided to go to the grocery store on my bicycle…and WOW did that change my view of the grocery store. I dislike the grocery store, immensely, not as badly as THE MALL, mind you, but pretty badly. But a gal’s gotta eat…Experience over Expedience…riding slowed things down for me and I was able to see the joy in the mundane. And I did not have to try to park in the Harris Teeter parking lot in North Arlington. The definition of insanity can include: trying not to lose your shit in that parking lot.

For this ADULTING POINTLESS PRIZE...you need to be riding your bike to do adult activities like grocery store (I know, I already mentioned that), post office, pharmacy, dentist, nails done (yes!), haircut, farmers market (YES there are still some open…I think…), dry cleaning drop off/pick up, take bike to bike shop for parts/repairs, go to library, go to gym (seriously, did you ever think it odd…to drive to the gym to ride a stationary bike or to jog on the treadmill, insert quizzical emoticon), go buy gifts at REI, etc...what would NOT be included: coffee rides, dropping/pick up kids, commuting to/from work.

Yeah, yeah, yeah Elizabeth I Like Wheels, hop down off your pink colored soapbox and tell us how to win the prize:

    PRIZE:
This will be a points based win, 1 point per adulting activity. Use #FS2020Adulting in your Strava title (e.g. #FS2020Adulting to the Gym) pictures encouraged, add your picture to the thread if you are so inclined! The most points wins.

Prize awarded at the closing ceremonies, I will probably ask Russ to do all the speaking…cuz he’s really good at it, funny, and easy on the eyes…ahem…just sayin’…

Please let me know if you have any questions. Get your chores done dangit...errr....GIT R Done!

Dang. Sadly, I walk for most of these (except for REI). It's a lot easier walking than getting ready for a bike ride. The only time I would do something like this is when I'm out on the bike and need to stop by the bike shop on the way home for a repair.

If we could count walking, I'd have a good chance. I will usually walk to at least one grocery store a day, in addition to the post office, library, Dr., dentist, haircut, farmers marker, fast food, liquor store, and other shopping. But no gym. The gym is evil!
The only time the car is used is when I'm going somewhere where the weather is nicer! And even then, I take my bike and walk to most stuff.

So, can I count commuting if there is a gym at my office, and I go to it before I go upstairs to my office? Yeah, I know, always looking for a loophole!

Wait, what? What about getting ready to walk is easier than getting ready to bike? You put on shoes to walk...you put on shoes to ride. You put on pants (I hope) to walk, you put on pants (I hope) to ride...shirt...optional if you are a dude...wait, some of the new jog bras are pretty spiffy, but it is colder than a witches tit out when you ride in a jog bra in 32F weather. I think it is the wind? Perhaps you don't put on a backpack to walk to the grocery store...but I always buy WAAAY too much ice cream to carry in bags hanging from my hands...backpack and panniers I say! and flowers ...for yourself, for your gal...they look great sticking outta a pannier...nah...going to have to go with BICYCLING ALL THE WAY, EVERY WHERE, YES PLEASE!! Bahahahahaha (insert crazed insane emoticon of a person on a bike) Pic is from Feb 6 2019

I'm plugging that loophole with my big fat commutes don't count finger. That is a commute for a lucky person who has a gym right there at the office, that commuted to...and commuted from..! Nice! (I count 4 uses of the word commute. I can be such an ass) How about getting your nails done? How about a color that matches your bike??Click image for larger version.

Hmm I guess ima hafta get me a flesh colored bike to get you to have trouble resisting me.

I've tried nail polish, but ugh, I never can hold still for long enough for it to dry & it's always a mess. Think about a 5 year old painting her nails.... (Except my daughter was better at it than me by the time she was 5. Because she wisely inherited from her dad instead of me in the careful department.)

I'm not good at leaving the dried painted nails alone either... Maybe if I bike harder....

Hmm, here's my problem with this one: If I do one bicycle ride, and I run four errands on it (not atypical), would I have to divide it into four rides in order to get credit for four times of adulting? Or could I tag/name the same Strava ride with four different tags, eg (from a recent ride) #FS2020Adulting Gym, #FS2020Adulting Breakfast Club, #FS2020Adulting Harris Teeter, #FS2020Adulting Post Office? (Each place is more than one mile from the previous place and more than one mile from my house.)

Assuming this will work like all of the other hashtag-generated leaderboards: you would need to separate each errand into a separate ride. Official ruling from the judges?
