Default Replacing Long Bridge over the Potomac (10/22 mtg)

Just received this email (as I'm sure many did) -- thought I'd post the details here for an upcoming Public Hearing / Open House in DC on Oct. 22.

The District of Columbia and Virginia will be replacing the Long Bridge railroad crossing over the Potomac—currently the rusted hulk of a trestle east of the I-395 crossing—and it’s an incredible opportunity for a new trail connection.
But we need your help to make it happen. Attend a hearing next Tuesday, Oct. 22, to support this incredible bike and pedestrian connection between Crystal City and D.C.

    Long Bridge Public Hearing

    Tuesday, Oct. 22
    Open House from 4 to 7 p.m.
    (presentations repeated at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.)

    1100 4th St. SW
    Washington, DC 20024
Room E200 on the second floor.
(Bring an ID to show at the entrance in order to access the building.)

Can't make the meeting? Be sure to speak out through our partners at the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA).
A safe Potomac River crossing as part of the Long Bridge project is a priority for the Capital Trails Network vision for the region—and with Amazon’s entry into Northern Virginia, this trail connection is even more critical to the area’s transportation future.
The Long Bridge project would create a safe, world-class connection from Crystal City to D.C.’s Wharf that would meet current—and future—demand for walking and biking in the metro area.
The crossing is currently included in the plan to rebuild the bridge, but we need to fight for this critical pathway every step of the way to make sure it gets completed.
Together, we can create a more connected National Capital Region.
