Is bike commuting on Oxen Hill Rd a deathwish?
I may be doing something like this for a bit next year: google map link on MD 414
It looks like trying to ride a bike through the worst sections of Glebe Rd but it'd be three times longer
Other less direct routes through the city seem like they could easily double the mileage and there aren't good alternatives but I haven't biked in the area much... any advice?

Have you already looked at the Strava Heat map for the area? https://www.strava.com/heatmap#13.90...84433/hot/ride
If I had to do this route, I'd be on the sidewalk a lot. Having ridden with you a few times, you seem to be OK doing the same also
I'd probably use those stupid bright rear Cygolites (day and night) and wear lots of yellow and reflective clothing as well.

This is why my nightmare is "we should consolidate ALL the statistical agencies at Suitland"

Look - we have to get through my nightmare first before we can tackle yours. (At least I'll be coming at SFC from the slightly less highway-like north approach...)
For more helpful feedback: creadinger weighed in on a similar query at http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showth...ia-to-Suitland

Ah thanks for posting that, creadinger confirmed my expectations for what it's like, and about going up north through the city.
