Here’s the groups notes in case you need some inspiration.

    Questions for GWMP/MVT South Ride
Intersection # 1: GWMP and Belle Haven Road
The GWMP has a median here, but getting between the parkway and the trail requires cutting through the parking lot and a grassy area. What could be done to improve trail access here?
No path, no crosswalk, need a curb cut ramp, two slip lanes (most turns here), left turn lane backs up, people cut thru from Fort Belvoir to Beltway via Bellhaven (anyone MD), lots of oncoming traffic and people get pretty aggressive, giant median, ome traffic lane in each direction, buffered bike lanes on street, immediately become best place to train for flat road riding, bus stop
Driveway between belle view and bell haven
Crossing from trail to convenience stores, one of first things to stop for food and drink, slip lanes. Odd medians, south side sidewalk, need to provide bus stop access, ask for FFairfax County ot provide sidewalk, when you cross, you have gravel and grass, dangerous when wet and icy, desire path by bus stop
Overarching, at many places, traffic circles would be logical and historically consistent with Pierre L'Enfant

Intersection # 2: GWMP and Belle View Blvd
The trail runs close to the GWMP here and there are bike lanes on Belle View Blvd, but there is no median and no paved trail access point. What could be done to improve trail access here?
Traffic Circle, safe crossing, difficult crossing eats to west and two lanes and small median ti ebgotatjkn, speeds higher, 35 mph north of there 45 mph south of there, signed 25 mph north of Porto Vecchio,
Curb on side but not traffic side, bike lanes on Belle View Bvld, slip lane and left turn lane, no crosswalk, double threat scenario, volume tougher to make a crossing weekday rush hour, no path, curb median removed to make a straight a hit of a lip too to cross the parkway so possible fall gazard, Jeff thinks it is the most dangerous,

Intersection # 3: GWMP and Tulane Drive
There is a paved trail spur by the small parking area and a median on the GWMP. What could be done to improve trail access here?
Small Permian, excessive speed, where people can make u turns, left turns merge j to crossing space if you sopnin median, also logical bicycling connections to fairfax (actuall connevgoon)

Sight lines are terrible, especially the sign, need some brush cutting,
Wide Enough for bike lanes on Tulane (30'),
Lots of people biking cross here
    Turn lanes are modern safety
Stop sign on Tulane from parkway, two way stop into four way stop, turning radius large
    Park terrace stop sign gone
Intersection # 4: GWMP and Morningside Lane
Determined wisely that this was not a place for people to bike and walk, no reason to go down there. Second to belle view blvd for car crashes

No median and no trail access here.
Worst crossing yet, no left turn lane, no path, nonpath on Fairfax, side, sheepish climb for cars, hard to share with climbing
Not much demand for crossing here, look for a demand path, steep incline to trail
Alexandria Ave Bridge has an impossible bus stop

Intersection # 5: GWMP and Wellington Road
The trail crosses Wellington Road close to the Wellington Road-Boulevard Drive intersection, and also pretty close to the GWMP-Wellington Road intersection. What could be done to increase the visibility of trail users and reduce the conflict with vehicles, especially vehicles turning onto Wellington Road?
Need to provide bus stop access, trail crossing issue, talked about raised crosswalk dor slowong cars down, no warning signs that there is a trail crossing on the fairfax side, no stop sign
Poor sightlines on Wellington, no access to bus stop, no left turn lane for cars, trail stop signs, sharper angle on right turns, no crosswalk, hard to make a left, slip lane should negate need for a large radius
Two way stop at W Boulevard, should be 4 way
Intersections # 6, 7, and 8: GWMP and Collingwood Road
The trail crosses Collingwood Road close to the Collingwood Road-Boulevard Drive intersection, and also pretty close to the GWMP-Collingwood Road intersection. What could be done to increase the visibility of trail users and reduce the conflict with vehicles, especially vehicles turning onto Collingwood Road?
Really bad sightlines, difficult to cross bus stop. Also logical connection to east blvd alternative mvt,
Wicked huge turn radius, left and right turn lanes, Collingwood could have bike lanes? No rosswalk, sidewalk, bike lanes ,path, no space for waiting to cross
Another bus stops inaccessible but even when you get across, there is no sidewalk, if winter, you would have to walk in the parkway

Intersection # 9: GWMP and Waynewood Blvd
The trail crosses Waynewood Blvd close to the Waynewood Blvd-Boulevard Drive intersection, and also pretty close to the GWMP-Waynewood Blvd intersection. What could be done to increase the visibility of trail users and reduce the conflict with vehicles, especially vehicles turning onto Waynewood Blvd?
Raised crosswalk on Waynewood Blvd, visibly not great for people driving to see people on the trail
Useless for people walking and biking to cross, no crosswalk and bike lanes, super large turn radius
Hard to turn left for people. Need turn lane
    Great picnic area, nice view
lower speed, lacking enforcement builds case for better engineering,
Intersection # 10: GWMP and Vernon View Drive
The trail runs close to the GWMP here, but there is no median and no paved trail access point. What could be done to improve trail access here?
No infrastructure on street yet, people walk there, safee crossing would be nice
Needs path, left turn lanes road diet, needs a sidewalk to connect, poor sightlines, people do walk across, bike lanes coming soon?

Intersection # 11: GWMP and Stratford Ln
Stratford Lane is the access road for Riverside Park, and there is a median here. What could be done to improve trail access here?
Bus stop on south side, given size, would lend itself to a historic traffic circle, lots of space, people leave my vernon and cab race to Old Town
Road diet, bike lanes on Stratford Ln, sightlines and speed are issue,

    Overarching thoughts
Speed, looking at non rush hour mode, people expect people on a sunday morning, allow people biking (remove ban south of Alexandeia) to get faster cyclists off of
Lower speed limits to 35 mph instead dod 45-50 mph
Road dier would be more park like and historically significant int3neee use (ie not commuree higwhay)
Parkway classic or a weekend road closure
