Default You just can't have nice things

I got this notice from Arlington County yesterday in response to my report that numerous flexiposts on 18th St S/S Hayes were missing or damaged.

This is right by my house. When I went to check out the County's work, I found this:

I guess when you have cars around you just can't have nice things.
That noted, all the rest of the repaired posts were shiny and new and looked good, so ArlCo did a good job.

Wait, the official ArlCo term for these items are bollards. Does that now make you pro-bollard?

I guess I see your point, but if there were no cars around, we wouldn't need these particular nice things.

I do this to keep people off balance.

But for clarification, what I vehemently oppose are bollards that are placed in the middle of the path of travel - like on trails at intersections (or randomly at bridges, etc.).

The posts alongside the PBL, OTOH, (bollards, if you like) are intended to separate the path of travel of the people on bikes from the drivers. I am not opposed to them.
