My collision free streak has ended.
For those of you who haven't seen my strava, this is what happened yesterday afternoon:
I was riding home, had just left the office, riding WB in the bike lane on Eye SE, crossing NJ Avenue. Eye and NJ SE is a bad intersection, especially on a nice evening - cars, peds, riders in every direction in large numbers, turns, and no traffic signals. I tried to ride alongside a WB car to get a gap through the mess, but of course I couldn't quite keep up. SB SUV, waited till the car was past then proceeded and hit me (on the right side, of course) I went down. He was apologetic, gave me insurance info. I was in a hurry to an evening event, so did not call police, etc. I felt okay. Mostly minor road rash on the leg, arm, hand. Later noticed a scrape on my right ankle, which maybe was from the SUV, not the road? Got the chain back on, and rode off. As I headed WB on Eye SW I noticed it was getting much harder to pedal, brake was stuck, etc, and I realized I had to bag it, so took the bike to DistrictHardware/Velocafe. They took a look, and gave me an estimate.

Very glad to hear you were not seriously injured; sorry the streak had to come to an end

I'm glad your injuries appear to be minor.

Hope you're better soon. Call their insurance just to notify them that you're likely to make a claim.

I hope you and your bike are back in tip-top shape soon.

Tough call with needing to get somewhere (but you ended up being delayed by the broken bike anyway.) I believe a lot of motorists get off scot-free when we don't call the police in instances like this. "SMIDSY; let my insurance take care of it. I'll have forgotten all about it by the time I get home."
Although who knows if the police would even ticket the driver?

I'll save someone the trip to Google: "Sorry mate I didn't see you"

I agree. Please report it. Probably won't help with a ticket, but it will put the information in "the system" so that the powers that be know that intersection needs attention.
Glad it wasn't worse!
