So... Literally as soon as I got home, my work phone started ringing. I am not going to be able to make it. I will PM those who won Lost Dog prizes and make arrangements to get them their prizes.

If anyone wants to give a shout out to the winners:
    muscyls - 1st Place
    huskerdont - 2nd Place
    josh - 3rd Place

Default RSVP for Freezing Saddles End-of-Season Celebration and Prize Ceremony 2019

I just learned that my stand-in and cosponsorer of this yearís inaugural #spiriteuring award ... @beachfilipe ... will not be present tonight to announce the 2019 winner because, what else, he ran off to the beach!!!!

So....in the hope that someone reads this during the HH event, I hereby grant poetic license to ANYONE in attendance to announce @SMB9600 as this yearís clear run away winner!!

@SMB9600ís sheer grit and determination to drink whatever she could get her hands on, be it of spirit, grape or hop/barley (or even apple) origin, across at least 3 states, put her in a class of her own.

Her award will be a bike ride to dinner and spirits at the Falls Church Distillery, as it is halfway between our respective abodes, whenever I am next back in town (and my cosponsor returns from the Beach).

    Ride on, and drink up!

I regret that I will not be there this evening to announce the winner of this yearís covenanted and much anticipated, inaugural #BAFS2019wineuring Pointless Prize due to forces beyond my control (i.e. I work abroad and occasionally have to show up in the office)...

This yearís competition started out with two closely match winos, but one of them then went for a bike ride through Napa Valley, CA....and so, need I say anything more??

However @bikedavid showed up late in the game and made a valiant attempt by eating green eggs and ham in places that served, but didnít actually make, wine on site! Perhaps he started drinking BEFORE he got on his bicycle to compete in this pointless prize??

Anyhooooow...the winner is @SMB9600 (do we have a disturbing pattern emerging here?)!!!!

Her prize will be a bike ride to a winery of @rejiís choice, which undoubtedly will include gravel, whenever I get back to town and can chase the two of them down. And I invite all of this yearís contestants to join along on the ride (to be announced on this Forum)!

Kudos to all of the FS statistical winners and the Pointless Prize winners announced tonight at Bier Baron!
And major props to Wheels&Wings coordinating the organizing; and to the early decorators; and to the fearless emcee; and to all the prize presenters ... Speaking as a first-time Freezing Saddles Observer, it was a really enjoyable, fun evening; I'm looking forward to it next year, when I'll be a first-time Freezing Saddles Teammate!

(Although my bike will still be in the shop Thursday, I will DEFINITELY be out walking my favorite stretch of trail after work tomorrow, just to try out my spiffy new KOT collapsible trash-picker!! Thanks, Judd!!)

Put the new 'royal scepter' to some good use today, with 2 QPB's along the usual stretch...

It certainly made pickup more civilized and elegant. Not all this bending over, up and down, working up a sweat. I even managed to develop a pick-while-mid-stride technique towards the end. Very polished and fluid, picking up a piece of trash without stopping the walk, and slipping it into the bag while walking on to the next trash...

Is there an official PP final list yet? I'm curious about how some of them went - specifically LordoftheMark's Alexandria Infrastructure quest.

I'm annoyed I had to miss it, but I knew I had a 50/50 chance going in.
