Did anyone see any signs of the enforcement blitz that was reported as starting today in DC?

I didn't see anything out of the ordinary this morning.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am that there will be no more pedestrian and cyclist deaths in DC now.

For the event itself: as always, lots of the right things were said by the mayor, DDOT, DPW, and DCPD - so we'll have to wait to see if the actions match. I did like that the DPW director was there; from what I've seen, he's been rather absent from a lot of these types of events (for all of their faults, DDOT at least shows up). It was somewhat "interesting" that they staged things so that the mayor and DPW Bike Force were blocking the curb cut for the intersection...

...not that it mattered with traffic not caring about blocking it either.

They also had a few photo ops of installing "No Turn on Red" signs for the cars travelling from 1st to Mass Ave NE. However, nobody stuck around long enough to enforce it, so there's that.

someone missed a golden opportunity for a video with the dignitaries hanging the sign followed by a time-warped view of the intersection for the rest of the day.

You didn't even need the rest of the day - a few minutes after the dignitaries and accompanying staff/officers/etc. had left, while a few of us bike people were chatting, cars/buses were blowing through the new signs w/o stopping.
