    Question Red Line Bike Commuters

    Hi there,

As a fellow bike commuter and journalist, I'm working on a story about how the WMATA red line closure has affected commuters and possibly inspired more cyclists. If anyone's commute has been affected by the closure or has recently taken up commuting via bike, I'd love to hear from you. Either respond to this thread or send me an email at eaweber19@gmail.com.

    Many thanks,
    Liz

Good luck. Most cyclist commuters wind up finding this site after they've discovered the joys of commuting by bike.

This may be out of scope, but since I'm always happy to talk: it was the prospect of SafeTrack in 2016 (when the red line was closed for much of November between Fort Totten and NoMa, similar to now) that led me to commuting more by bike (with daughter in tow for school) from our home in Brookland/Edgewood...

...and though I'd found this site when I was still considering it, I think I can safely say the folks here (knowingly or not) played a big role in me going full-time "try to go everywhere by bike."

That's nothing compared to Metro's plan to reduce Orange/Silver/Blue line trains to every 20 Minutes(16 Minutes for Blue line) during rush hour for two weeks, starting August 11.

Debatable given the duration, but there is something to be said for having a total shutdown to just completely remove Metro as an option.

Oh, right, while the closed parallel trail is closed...
