Ride from Huntington Metro down ft. Hunt rd?

Has anyone figured out what Google Maps means when they say you can ride from Huntington Metro to Quander and then down Ft. Hunt rd. In Alexandria without riding on Huntington Blvd (ave?) itself?

I have family down that way. A few wks ago I got lost trying to find a trail behind the metro exit...got lost in a parking garage. Almost crashed into another cyclist trying to get through using the same Google map. We both ended up taking Huntington and riding on the sidewalk.

It looks like there's a back route....is it from the Kings Hey exit out of metro...not the bus / kiss and ride exit? (That's the only exit I've eve used)

Use the upper (Kings Hwy) exit. Left on Kings. Left on Ford which becomes Rixey. Left on Fairhaven. Cross US 1 at a light. Fairhaven becomes Quander. Quander leads to FHR.
