    Here is my plan:

    1) Pack bike
    2) Attempt to ride bike
    3) If unable to stay upright on bike, start throwing stuff off
    4) Repeat as needed

Don't forget to pack the firewood and wine cellar.

It's hard to go anywhere by bike in this region and be so far from civilization that you can pack catastrophically. So, take a guess, and learn lessons for the next time.

What bag did you go with over the front wheel?

A Sea to Summit Air Stream dry bag on top of a Surly 24-Pack Rack. I weighed using a low rider rack to place the sleeping bag and tent lower, but then wouldn't have been able to mount the bottle cages. If we make a beer run to Poolesville, that Surly rack will come in handy.

    A beer run is mandatory.
