As a reminder - the Wundergarten doesn't open until 2PM...so any plans to "ride fast/short and then go to the beer garden" would need an alternative locale (Union Market, the bar upstairs at Whole Foods, the Biergarten Haus on H Street, etc.)

This. I'm just not sure about MD drivers in the snow.

Not sure why we get a really bad rep here on these forums, but how many MD drivers do we have documented running over themselves?

Because Maryland drivers are more of a menace to cyclists (rather than themselves), especially when they are driving in Virginia. Now, if this guy had jumped out of his car, gotten onto a bike, and THEN run himself over, you might have a case.

That story is terrible. It says it happened in Alexandria, when it actually happened in Fairfax County. It also calls Alexandria a "suburb". It says the guy is from Alexandria (as does another article that makes it clear the incident was not the City) but no one seems able to say if he was from the City, or from the parts of Fairfax with their misleading postal addresses of "Alexandria". And the story has gone international, dragging the name of the Port City into the mud. Feh.

I'm fundamentally opposed to using bar mitts in April, but I think I'll have to put them back on my bike for tomorrows Vasa ride :-/
