    Greetings!
Just want to say hi and do a quick intro. I met some of you at the HH, and this is my 4th Freezing Saddles! I live in Fall Church, about half
mile from WOD mile marker eight. Been a cyclist for 36+ yrs, and mostly enjoy riding on the trails, shop rides, and WABA sponsored "urban explorations". Unfortunately, commute via bike is not really a option for me, so I ride mostly after work and on weekends. As a gear head, I build and maintain most of my bikes and enjoying working on them almost as much as riding them.

Look forward to meet and hopefully get few team rides together.

    Cheers!
    -HF

That said, Heroes Below Zeroes and We Brake for Beer are very strong suggestions.
Since we can't escape the fact that we're in DC, how about incorporating 17 with a political spin:

    Surprise of 17?

    FN(Fake News) 17?

    Default 2017

Can we make up our own fake news? Make fun of Strava or something?

We are still short a few riders on our Strava team. Can we reach out to them in any way?

    Default Individual Pts.?

Last year I thought we could look at the leader board and see where we as individuals were placed within the competition. I am not seeing that option this year. You can sort for miles ridden under the People tab, but I don't see that option under Leaderboards. Am I missing this option somewhere? Was this scoring matrix pulled from the competition this year?

    Default Hello Team 17!

    Hello Team,

I am Zachary B. I have been riding for a couple of years, primarily road, but this is my first time doing Freezing Saddles. I live in Arlington and ride mostly in the DC to Poolesville area, but am always open to new roads! I bike to work and try to do weekend and evening rides as well. I will unfortunately be out of town for 11 days without the chance to ride, but hope to log enough miles to make up for it.

On the team name, Heroes Below Zeroes is fantastic and made me laugh. Rachel C is more creative than me, but in a hopeless attempt to incorporate 17 into the name, I will throw out "The 17 Cyclists of the Snowpocalypse". Doesn't really make complete sense, but neither does Freezing Saddles.

Looking forward to meeting and riding with you all!

    Zachary B

Since two of my good riding friends (they're good friends ... I'll let y'all decide if they're any good riding bicycles), HF and Zach, are on your team (and I kinda sorta know your team captain), and because the team threads aren't the exclusive domain of team members (newbies will learn fast that the only rule of Freezing Saddles is that there are no rules), I'm infiltrating your thread ...

To let you know that Legal in Las Vegas is doing a coffee meet-up at Colada, 1405 T Street NW in DC on MLK Day ~1100-ish. Zach is actually riding with me and my friend Bob aka The Real Bobke. Since Zach is riding with me, y'all are welcome to crash the party at Colada. That said, I have no idea how big of a party it will be. My team knows about it but I don't know who can/will make it. So it could just be me, Zach, and Bobke.

Thanks for the invite! I'd would absolutely join you all if I didn't have to work on MLK day...

How about a rhyming scheme like.....

    Mean green seventeen
    Fun machine seventeen
    Or.....
Seventeen bottles of beer on the wall

How do people prefer to communicate? Email? This forum? Strava? I know some teams create Facebook groups, but unless that's everyone's strong preference, I would really rather not communicate through Facebook.

    Group rides:

Weekdays - my schedule is pretty flexible most days between 9am-3pm. I'd be up for some lunch rides, maybe? Hains Point laps or something similar?

Weekends - I'm a big #beerneuring participant, as i mentioned. However, a lot of my weekend rides are with the kids - either me pulling them on the longtail, or them on their own bikes. So we will often be slow and sidewalky. But if you don't want to deal with the slow pace, it's always cool to meet at the destination, too. We're out of town this weekend (although we'll be hitting RAR and Cambridge Brewing Co by bike if anyone's in far Maryland), but I hope to get to a couple of the DC breweries in the next week or two.

I'm also planning to plan a fundraiser beer ride - I'm on the board of Trash Free Maryland, a non-profit that does pretty much what the name says. I'm thinking a ride starting around Nats Park, heading up the Anacostia Trail (a beautiful ride if you haven't done it) and probably ending up at Franklin's in Hyattsville (another #beerneuring point) for lunch or something.
