    Default Ride safe this morning!

Untreated surfaces are likely to have some ice. Be smart. Be careful!

My friend, Zach's, Strava ride title this morning:

Pure ice on Mt. Vernon trail at bridge over GW Parkway at 6 am. Really bad, especially bottom of hill before bridge heading into DC, entire width of trail.

The only reason Zach didn't go down is because a jogger coming the other way warned him about it. Otherwise, he would've ridden right into it and probably would've crashed pretty hard.

i was dumb enough to try to get in some extra miles before work in Rock Creek Park. noooooope. not without studs! all NPS routes are just sheets of ice. all the treated car routes were fine tho, ended up cutting across to 14th and then south to work. beautiful fog! nice and warm compared to the last two weeks.

Icy patches on 4MR between Shirlington and West Glebe, but navigable most likely, even without studs, which I still had on,so I breezed right through. W&OD was clear from Shirlington to Columbia Pike. Hopefully today's sun and warmer temps will make this discussion a thing of the past for a while.

The MBT is wicked slick. Went down on the switchback by R St. Luckily I overdressed and was essentially wearing padding.

I'm glad I decided to avoid my usual route through RCP today and take 14th Street instead.
