My tire chains made the bike slow and noisy. But they were so effective I wasn't even sure there was ice until I got off the bike.

Only bad part was the driver who told me I should stop at the fire station and have them give me a ride home, then called me stupid (twice) when I declined. Ironically, she did NOT have chains. If it was that treacherous, why was she driving?

(FYI that's literally by the tennis courts!)
Ha! For the Sake of @dkel's Organ!! That is exactly where I wiped out on tonight's commute. Too bad that dude from #BAFS2015 wasn't out there pre-treating the WOD for me tonight!!!

It's slick as balls outside my place near Huntington metro. Just went out and checked. Ride studs if you've got any. I'm taking the train...

    Custis report:
Watch it on the overpass at Glebe. Other than that, no issues.
Will likely be clear there, too, in an hour.

Took a spill right here this morning, but miraculously landed on my feet. Rear derailleur's not so happy though.

There's a black ice patch going downhill (if you're going east) just before the Glebe overpass, right after I got on from George Mason. Took a nice body slide down the rest of the hill into the snow. All overpasses and concrete surfaces on the Custis were frozen, especially the ramp near TR Island. If you have to ride in this morning, avoid the trails.

By 8AM this morning, most of the ice had cleared. There were still a few slick spots besides the usual "bridges freeze before roadway" spots, most treacherously the zig-zag at R street (a CaBi rider ahead of me went down in the turn, but was OK). Did make me glad to have changed to the wider tires for today, but things should be cleared up by midday.

Both approaches to the WOD underpass for Carlin Springs were almost completely covered by ice. I was happy to be riding studs. The people I saw on slicks and e-bikes going down in turns on 4MR and the MVT didn't seem to be as happy.

Crossing the Taft Bridge encased in a blanket of fog this morning was positively surreal.
