I've never seen this list before. I don't think I'm even at level 2, actually: I never try mounting with the left foot (but probably could learn pretty easily), and I almost always fall if I try to go down a curb. I might shoot for level 3; level 4 would be a big stretch.

Yeah, to be fair, I haven't recently tried starting with either foot. But I did while learning, so am hoping I could pass the level 2 test with a little practice. (I don't really care, but it is fun to have a challenge structure.)

Level 3 would be a practical goal, but trying to learn to ride backwards and 180 turns so level 4 is a good stretch goal.

You goal-oriented people impress me. I'm not much on setting goals, for as my grandmother used to say, "דער מענטש טראַכט און גאָט לאַכט", which translates as, "Man makes plans, and God laughs." Certainly, the fates would have laughed had I set any goals at the beginning of 2017.

That having been said, I'm hoping in 2018 to continue building/re-building my speed and endurance.

I kind of slacked on my goals in 2017. I had several opportunities to capture and melt down Mr Happy but lost my nerve

    2017 Goals

    - get rid of anything I own that is high viz
    - get hit by a car but come out on top in the end
    - get in a fistfight with any elf car operator
    - kidnap SteveO’s action figure toy and collect ransom
    - go off the front and take a wrong turn on at least 50% of group rides

    2018 Goals

    - do not wear any hideously ugly cycling clothes
    - passive aggressively insult all e-Bikers that pass me on Key Bridge
    - call all passes but never cover my light
    - stop crying on hill rides
    - get disqualified from a rando ride for not wearing enough high viz

I plan to use Whitehurst more often. In both directions. Because f*ck them and their combustion engines.

    Default biking goals 2018.

Honestly, I can’t remember what my 2017 goals were, so I may or may not have met them. But I rode my bike, often alone, regularly with friends, and occasionally with annoying people. I slacked off on family rides, but my stoker still got several rides in.

In 2018 I plan to upgrade our tandem and teach my stoker to ring her bell at least a dozen times every time we pass someone on a road bike.

Oh, I meant to mention: I think this might be a factor of (or made easier by larger) wheel size. I now have my 24" again if you'd like to borrow it ever.

I didn't have bike to start 2017 (and had been off since ... oh, 2003), so I had only one goal: bike commute (NOVA to Capitol Hill) at least once a month. There were several months where I barely met that goal, but once summer ended things changed. I started riding morning hills, hills led to bike commuting several times a week, and now I somehow ended up registered for BAFS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I now have a bunch of goals for 2018, but the only three that really matter are:

    * Get my 5yo on the road with me
    * Stop for more coffee
    * Go an entire week without giving an a-hole driver the finger
