I typically don't make NY resolutions, but this year I did, and they are all bike related. In 2019 I am going to:
    • Ride 5,000 miles. (I ride ~2,500 stoking a tandem with my husband. Just bought a single bike, All City Space Horse, and am learning to ride that to make up the difference)
    • Meet more cyclist and join some group rides. (Doing Alexandria Conte's Saturday morning ride and love it. Looking for another regular ride, preferable mid-week.)
    • Join the Freezing Saddles fun (On the wait-list, so fingers crossed...)
    • Increase my cycling confidence and skills. (Working on that, and all of the above will help)
    • Learn basic maintenance and repair so I can be a self sufficient cyclist. (Conte's classes will help there)
    • Do a multi-day bike tour somewhere.

DK200 in less than 16 hours.
    Mountain bike more.
SM100 in less than 13 hours.
Get more women involved in racing!
Not be DFL in the Cat 3 races.
Well... 2018 was not the best year for me from a goals standpoint. I had some pretty significant health issues that I am still dealing with, so most of my goals landed quite flat between that and the Year of the Mud.

    1) I definitely tried harder to do more quality rides than just riding for the heck of it. But all of that strength and endurance that I built up disappeared in July/August due to health problems.
    2) DK200 was NOT completed in less than 16 hours. I still have unfinished business out there, but I am taking a year off.
    3) HAHAHAHA. Stupid rain.
    4) Because of what happened at DK200, I decided to sell my SM100 registration and do a weekend of UCI cross racing instead. That was a good decision.
    5) YES! As always, there is still so much work to be done here. But over all, the women's registration in racing is going up!
    6) Hmm... Well, I came in DFL in four cross races this year (out of 14). Two of which were 1/2/3 elite races, one was because of a bad bike decision, and the other was due to a crash and subsequent mechanical.

    My goals for 2019:
    Get healthy again.
    Get strength and endurance back.
Ride my bike for fun and enjoyment.
Have a kick ass cross season.
Be ready to do some serious gravel endurance racing in 2020.

Only made one of my three goals, but I don't mind.

    1) Try a fat bike.

Failed, but just decided to use the mountain bike in the Vermont snow instead. Did not take advantage of the nude swimming opportunities:

    2) Do the rest of Skyline Drive.

Failed. Dog had surgery in the summer, then it was the year of the rain that passeth understanding. Maybe this year.

    3) Ride 5,000 miles.

    7,272 includes 5,000.

My simple 2019 cycling related goals were:

Ride every day during Freezing Saddles - completed

    Ride 3000 miles - completed 3500

Lose 25 pounds - not even close. I think I actually gained a couple of pounds.

    So, for 2020:

Let's keep the first one and I'm off to a good start.

Lets make #2 3,650 or average 10 miles per day

And for #3, I'll keep it as is, but add eat fewer snacks and better meals.

Best wishes to you on your goal!

Well, looking back I see I never actually stated any 2019 goals when I recapped my 2018 stats earlier in this thread.
In my head at that time, I'd certainly hoped to break 5,000 miles in 2019, to put me in striking distances of 10,000 by my 2-year bike anniversary in March, 2020...

I was potentially just barely on track to make the 2019 5,000 goal up til October (despite 34 summer days without my bike, during which I didn't think to try rentals!) but then late Fall brought another 2 weeks lost being too miserable with a flu, and more of an impact on the miles, a new relationship (happily) chewing into my former biking free time.

An unexpected biking detail for 2019 - I "found" (completely forgotten in a storage locker!) and fixed up my original early-90's Bianchi 21-speed in August, becoming a 2-bike household and clocking about 200 miles on it.
(The ebike I bought in 2018, a throttleless pedal-assist, remains my preferred office commuter bike, while the Bianchi got some weekend time.)

So here is an update comparing the two years for me.

    2018 . . . 2019
    4032 . . . 3559 --- total biked miles for the year
    1161 . . . 1080 --- car miles eliminated by biking to work
    600.2. . . 610.0 -- highest monthly total miles (7/18, 6/19)
    109. . . . 107 ---- office roundtrip commutes made
95.8 . . . 84.5 --- average weekly miles (of all weeks with any biking)
    -61. . . . +10 ---- weight lost as of 12/31/yy
    53 . . . . 53 ----- weight (lbs) of bike with battery
51.4 . . . 51.0 --- longest single-day ride total miles -- Note for 2019 figure, this was my first-ever "Bike Your Age On Your Birthday"! Thanks, CaseyK for nudging me to do it, and riding some of them with me!
    38 . . . . 21 ----- days mileage exceeded 30
    27.8 . . . 22.8 --- highest average daily miles of any month (9/18, 5/19)
    23 . . . . 27 ----- greatest number of biking days in any month (7/18, 6/19)
    22.4 . . . 20.4 --- average daily miles (of all days biked more than 1 mile)
    17 . . . . 14 ----- highest number of office commutes in any month (10/18, 10/19)
    2. . . . . 1 ------ days mileage exceeded 50
    1. . . . . 0 ------ number of days with falls/wipeouts
    0. . . . . 0 ------ number of flats (fingers crossed!)

    2020 tentative goals:
    Bike whole W&OD
    Get back to 4,000+ miles/year
Put more miles on the Bianchi

Well... 2019 was a year. How did I stand up to my goals?

    1) Ha. Things got worse in 2019 and I (and my doctors) are still trying to figure out why. Cheers to answers in 2020!
    2) Ha. See #1.
    3) YES. I accomplished this! I did ride my bike for fun and enjoyment, a lot!
    4) Meh. I had a blast. My Cat 3 performances kind of sucked, but I did enjoy a season of single speed racing and ended up being the Super Series Single Speed Champion. So YAY!
    5) I am ready-ish. As ready as my body will allow me to be right now. So I think I might have to temper my goals for 2020.

    Goals for 2020:
Work with what I have from a health and fitness standpoint.
Be kind to myself when I am unable to perform how I want.
Pick up some new skills in mountain biking.
Complete a couple multi-day bikepacking races (Trans VA and GRUSK are on the agenda).
Continue to run once a week for cross training.
    Ride more with friends.

My goal for 2020 is to enjoy life. You just never know when it will all be over. And it doesn't matter how old you are.

2019 was my 3rd highest year ever, so I am happy with that. And plus and I saw so many great places across the US.

Let's just hope for an amazing 2020.
