The proprietor, Fernando, couldn’t have been more attentive, as he knew what I needed before I could muster the words in my pigeon Portuñol. I then surveyed the damage from the night before, which for some, had not yet ended. Life is indeed a beach sometimes.
This one coffee ride is so over the top that it's almost worthy of being enough to win the whole damn thing!

The third common term for carnival in German, Fastnacht, refers to the Swabian Alemannic carnival, which is found in Baden Württemberg, Franconia (northern Bavaria), Hesse, and much of Switzerland. Although this word looks like it comes from the German for the “eve of Lent,” in fact it is based on the Old German word fasen (“to be foolish, silly, wild”). Thus the word, sometimes spelled Fasnacht (without the t) actually means something like “night of being wild and foolish.” it was pretty quiet when we stopped for lunch with coffee at the Werner's Backstube and we weren't sticking around for the Parade of convertibles since we wanted to be back in Frankfurt before sunset.

Because of your other post about Fastnacht I read up on it. Looks like fun!

Even though we had full sun today, I did not get out for my ride until sunset. That meant most Bäckereis were already closed so I used my default option and had my cappuccino with my dinner at Valerio's at the Fieldhouse on the housing compound, and then rode the 200 yards back to our building.

A Taunus snow ride in the midday drizzle to bad Homburg, Saalburg, and Oberursel stopping for coffee and a chocolate croissant at Café el Castillo in Oberursel, same place from January 5 where the Garmin file was corrupted and would not load into Strava or Garmin Connect so the manual ride did not count for #BAFS.

A late Saturday morning ride with no planned route. After a quick trip through the parks I headed out the Nidda to Harheim, but only found a Bäckerei chain (Siepler) I had already used. Back in Frankfurt I stopped at the Freud Backstube in Eckenheim for a coffee and doughnut.

I was beginning to think today's ride was going to be a DNF on coffee. Before leaving home I had scouted out potential stops since so much is either closed altogether or close early since it's Sunday. My first bakery was in Gustavsburg, I was there at 10:50, but they closed at 11:00 and were out of pastries, so I did't stop since there were two more possibles in the next five miles. I rode past the location for number 2 in Bischofsheim, but did't see a bakery. Location number 3 in Ginesheim was open, but were cleaning their coffee machine in preparation for closing at noon (it was 11:40). Location number 4 was on the Kühkopf island and Mr Google said it's open Saturdays and Sundays, nope. Finally I had success in Pfungstadt. I was prepared to stop at the Burger King, but I passed Café Tee & Co on my way through town and stopped for coffee and wafel (It didn't look like the nearby Pfungstadt brewery was open).

For my Presidents' Day recovery ride I took out the Pugsley and rode around the Grüneburg and Nidda Parks. During my second pass through Niddapark I detoured over to Praunheim and stopped at Espressobar Manusco. I was there at 11 am and they close at 1 pm so my choices were limited. I had a Schweineohren with my coffee.

I was out getting splatted both before and after lunch in Grüneburg and Nidda Parks. Then I stopped at Café Clement in Eschersheim for coffee and a Berliner gefüllt mit Himbeere.

Sunrise through the parks before my flight. Stopped at Brot & Freunde in Dornbush near the end for an Illy coffee and Kristalzuckerdonut.
