There will be a trail detour in effect while they are doing the soil borings. Because there are two parallel trails there, the detour should not be a major inconvenience for users."

Looks like W&OD will be closed at times, which will route trail users onto the Four Mile Run Trail. At different times, it looks like the Four Mile Run Trail will be closed, which will route trail users onto the W&OD.

Has anyone had eyes on the trails today? We're getting folks asking on social and email if they're pre-treated for the PM commute.

Not me, but I don't see any pretreating on a major road next to me in Fairfax county. I would say assume the worst and be careful in downhill areas.

No pretreating of the W&OD -- not that one expects it -- it is pretty sketchy, but was rideable earlier with slicks. Brake slowly and with the rear brake, though ...

The CCT was generally okay. Not enough snow on it to make a big impact, and there werenít enough riders to pack down what little snow there was. The RCP trail in Foggy Bottom was a little sketch, but not really slick as far as I could tell.

The Case Bridge path had a decent amount of snow, but hadnít seen enough traffic to get packed down and slick.

W&OD mid-afternoon - looked pretty much like this the whole way from mm5.0-9.0. No issues on 40s. Might get nasty tonight/tomorrow with refreeze - it was starting to get pretty slushy in a few spots.

Rode the W&OD east from Gallows to 4MR and the MVT starting around 8 tonight. It was definitely getting dicier than the afternoon. For the most part, the white bits with snow were good, but the mostly cleared bits had some ice lurking around that added to the challenge. The wind picking up made it much more "fun" (had the back almost blown out from under me a couple of times). All in all, doable if you need to taking it slow and steady...but not highly recommended

It was mostly icy ruts of death today. I bailed out to side streets.

Bluemont Junction :: Clear path of pavement almost to WOD

WOD Bluemont to MVT :: Patches of thin ice and snow pack. County / NVRPA did not clear the trail. No real problem on CX tires. No tracks or signs that anyone had wiped out. Bridges were fine.
