Current plan is for M and I to roll out of our garage around 9:40, check-in around 9:45, and be ready to go out with the first wave of McIntosh (~28 miles) at 10. We'll probably stop for lunch in Hyattsville on the way back; not sure about the after party. Alternative plan is she decides to stay home, in which case I talk myself into the longer ride/earlier start/etc. Alternative alternative plan is that we go to check-in at 8:30 to get cue sheets/swag/whatever, then hightail it to Arlington for the Kidical Mass Ride/Junior Ranger program that starts at 9:30, take a nice leisurely ride there, and then race back to DC to do some of the Cider Ride in our own fashion and see if we can get to the Proteus pitstop before it closes at 1:30.

In any case, see folks out there sometime/somewhere!

I'm going to be riding tandem, but not the whole route. We're going to leave from Greenbelt at 9:15 at the New Deal cafe, and planning to get to Shortcake Bakery for snacks at about 9:45. Then we'll be riding the longer-route, but short- circuiting back in Greenbelt. If anyone would like to ride with us for those parts, we'll probably be at Shortcake baker until about 10am, then to Proteus by about 10:45 or so. So I won't be going to the start/finish this year -- no Cider for me! -Jeff

I’m looking forward to the Cider Ride tomorrow! Thank you to all the great sponsors, like Proteus, for making it possible.

I was excited to see that two of the routes, the Honeycrisp and McIntosh, will pass through the cool, little town I live in, Riverdale Park.

I know WABA has some great pit stops planned, and many of you know the area as well or better than I do; but, I wanted to share some ideas for those of you that may be looking for an unofficial pit stop along the way or for a future visit:

Riverdale Park Station (around mile 14.5 on the McIntosh Route) – includes a Whole Foods and several fast casual dining options.

Town Center Market (just before mile 38 on the Honeycrisp Route, just off the Trolley Trail of the McIntosh Route after passing the Riverdale MARC station) - has one of the best craft beer and wine selections in the DC area, including 32 rotating taps ( https://www.towncentermarket.net/ ). The nearby Dumm’s serves pizza and subs.

Franklins (about mile 38.5 of the Honeycrisp Route and 16 of the McIntosh Route) – a local institution with a brewery, restaurant, and eclectic toy store (http://www.franklinsbrewery.com/ ).

Vigilante Coffee (not directly on the route, but about a block away from Franklin’s across Route 1/Baltimore Avenue) – roasts fantastic coffee and has built a really cool cafť (http://vigilantecoffee.com/ ).

Several great options along the section of the routes along Baltimore Ave, which is the gap in trail network between the Trolley Trail and Anacostia Tributary Trail network that WABA has been advocating to connect, include:

    Streetcar 82 Brewery – a new brewery that opened this summer (https://www.facebook.com/Streetcar82/ ; https://dcist.com/story/18/08/15/str...ffers-new-hub/ )

Pizza Paradiso (https://www.eatyourpizza.com/ ) – a great regional chain that shares a building with an arts nonprofit

Maryland Meadworks – a new meadery that opened in October and just posted it will be offering free samples tomorrow (https://www.facebook.com/marylandmeadworks/ ; http://hyattsvillelife.com/mead-in-h...and-meadworks/ )

Shortcake Bakery (https://shortcakebakery.com/) – an amazing bakery.

There are many other great options, but I thought I’d share a few suggestions that may pique someone’s curiosity.

    Enjoy the ride!

I just got done with the most physically exhausting day of work in my life so I'm bowing out of the long ride tomorrow. I'll show up around 9 and may do a ten miler and pick up my mug if I can manage that.

I'm going to volunteer with Judd and some soon-to-be junior park rangers tomorrow, so I'm out as well. If anyone wants to pick up my mug for me, I'll buy you lots of beer.

Qudsiya and I are planning on starting the Honeycrisp by 9. Jeff--we might be a little ahead of you but maybe we'll cross paths and can have a tandem convening. dbehrend--thanks for the suggestions! Last year we went to the Greenbelt Co-op so that's another option.

Wondering if any ride marshals (or anyone really) had feedback on the route changes this year? I felt like the changes seemed well received, particularly getting more miles further into DC on the ART. But I did hear once complaint about skipping Greenbelt National Park (which is a pretty area but hard to access by bike...)
