    Default Custis Trail Interruption - 8/28 - 8/31

    Hi all,

Just received the following from Arlington County's Department of Environmental Services:
"Emergency sewer repairs will take place in Westover Park (N Fairfax Dr. and N Kennebec St.) near the Custis Trail. Work will occur between 8/28-31, barring complications. Trail users will be directed to eastbound lane & westbound lane will be closed."

There will be "work ahead" signs and the lane closure will be marked.

That's at the bottom of the hill, so riders should use caution. I noticed some fencing being put up this morning.

Depending on how much of the trail they take, it might be worth taking this simple detour:

    Oh the humanity...

So inquiring minds want to know, is the section of the trail between Harrison and the former Bridge of Eternal Darkness on the south side of 66 officially part of the Custis Spurt? Or is this the Custis Spurt Junior?

No...Duh! It's not even near the Spurt.
And it's the former Underpass of Eternal Darkness, not Bridge.

That trail could use a creative name, however. How about the Wayne F. Anderson Bikeway West?
