Default Weekend of October 20 - where to ride with my daughter?

My wife is heading out of town with the younger daughter for the weekend of October 20th. I'll have the older one and I'm trying to plan a ride. I think her range is probably 30ish miles on the day, assuming we're not doing crazy climbing. Her record for a day is 23 miles but that was a rental bike and she didn't seem tired at all. a 15 mile out and back with lunch in the middle seems well within her ability.

I was thinking about driving to Hains Point and parking then going over the 14th St Bridge and heading out the W&OD but then I'm not sure what our goal is. Anyone have suggestions? Starting in NW DC but I'm not entirely opposed to driving somewhere to start the ride.

I think National Harbor is a great suggestion. Getting there on the DC/Maryland side involves some pretty big hill climbing and a lot of riding on city streets. Crossing over to Virginia and then taking the Mt. Vernon Trail down would work great though.

Nah, take Rod Smith with you or mtansill -- they know all the best ways.

I usually take the Mt Vernon trail to the bridge to crossover though.
