    Default Lunch in Shirlington

    Another Ride-To-Eat ™ production!

The “Lunch in Shirlington” ride meets year-round on Sundays at 9:45 am (for a 10:00 am departure) on the brick plaza in front of the Shirlington Library / Signature Theater at 4200 Campbell Ave, Arlington 22206, for a 16 mile loop on the bike trails of Arlington (the Arlington Loop: traveling first on a portion of the W&OD Trail, then the Custis Trail, the Mount Vernon Trail, and the Four Mile Run Trail). The 3-4 miles on the Custis Trail are hilly; the rest of the ride is pretty flat (pace on ride is about 8-12 miles per hour depending on the terrain).

This is a friendly, social ride; new people are welcome and will soon be part of the regular group. Lunch after the ride is at one of the many restaurants in Shirlington (free parking in garages and lots). It would be wise to bring a helmet, water, bike lock, money for lunch, and a bicycle in good repair with properly inflated tires.

Email the ride leader on Saturday or before 9:00 AM Sunday for information about possible cancellation due to weather (ride may be canceled for rain, ice, wind greater than 10 mph, or temperatures below 45 degrees or above 90 degrees). Ride Leader: Ron Trueworthy

Note that this week's preferred Sunday ride is the Bicycle Fan Club ride. Same starting point and time.

Wasn't the Bicycle Fan Club ride starting from Best Buns rather than the library plaza?

When I said, "same" I meant Shirlington writ large, not an exact point in space.

Arrow Is Lunch is Shirlington 9:45am ride ongoing in 2019?

New to this site & I'm wondering where to find current events/group bike rides. Is this Sunday 9:45am Shirlington bike ride still happening every week in 2019?
    Thanks!
