Doughneurers!
The starting point for the Doughneuring Ride on June 3rd, 2017, will be the Freezing Saddles Picnic Area on Hains Point, also known as the Picnic Area near the point, meeting at 12:00 Noon.
One announcements: this ride is intended for Doughneurers and people from Freezing Saddles who actually know me. It is not a revival of the old DC Donut Ride of a few years back. Therefore, I am capping the participation at 25 riders. We want to have fun again, not ambush the unsuspecting doughnut shops around DC. Please respond to this thread or send me a notification (instructions above) as an RSVP.
I am delighted to be able to share FIVE new doughnut venues with you on this ride, and we will revisit a few old favorites, too. Moreover, after valiant Doughneuring in the winter, and sadly winning the Sorriest Doughnut Prize, Mary has seen the light and is newly appreciative of high-end crafted doughnuts. She has generously volunteered to drive out to B Doughnuts in Leesburg earlier on Saturday to procure a wide selection of these delectable delights for us to enjoy at the Hains Point start!
Please visit the B Doughnuts website so you can tantalize your taste buds and begin to dream about these delicious delights: http://www.bdoughnut.com/. Monetary Donations will be welcomed.
I am keeping the exact route under wraps for now, but as always, it is open to riders who want to join in at any point, or who have to cut out before the end, with an RSVP and a phone number so you receive the text updates of our location as we cruise DC.
A rough idea of the Ride is HP to DC Capitol Hill and points east first, followed by a cross town jaunt to Georgetown, then across the mighty Potomac and up to Arlington, shooting back to DC, up the newly repaved Rock Creek Trail to Smoke and Barrel in Adams Morgan. Riders heading home to Virginia or back to Hains Point can go together after the beer and sweet potato doughnuts on the patio have been enjoyed. Maryland riders can head north with me. Total HP start to finish (at Smoke and Barrel) mileage is about 25.
Just coming to the beer and doughnuts on the patio part is ok, rough, really rough, estimate is arriving there between 4 and 5 pm. It takes a while for a big pack of cyclists to get doughnuts at all the stops!
Send your RSVPs! The ride will go rain or shine. This ride is no drop. We are sure to have a epic time!
As always, Be There and Be Round! edelweiss
The Ride has been posted to the Forum Calendar!
THIS Saturday, weather prediction is looking great! Noon start on Hains Point,
meandering through the city, over the River and back to satisfy our doughnut
cravings.
Lots of time to let everyone know you are coming!! Plenty of room on the ride
for you to join in!

I'm in!!! Not so sure about sweet potato donuts though. Veggies don't belong in a donut, just sayin'
Ok, you will be so sorry if you miss the SEVEN doughnut shop Epic Ride!
Starting with the B Doughnut Pop-Up at Hains Point!!! Get to the start, eat amazing Doghnuts.
From there we will go into DC, Capital Hill and Eastern Market areas, to hit THREE new venues!!
One is the Pretzel Bakery where we have to choose between the Nutella Pretzel Bombs and the sweet yummy cinnamon glazed pretzels. Two other stops in the vicinity offer new sweet delights.
Next we will cross town to Georgetown and visit District Doughnuts again in Cady's Alley.
Sadly, very sadly, the Bayou Bakery in DC has recently closed, BUT we will burn some calories by cycling up to the Bayou Bakery in Arlington! Yummy beignets, drenched in powdered sugar...
Then back across the Potomac to Smoke and Barrel for a well-deserved beer or cool beverage on the patio. Sweet potato mini-doughnuts are optional.
Still several spaces available, join the fun!! Doughneuring on June 3rd! Be There, Be Round!
