    Default Torn paper along MVT?

What's up with the carefully torn up pieces of paper along the Mount Vernon Trail? Almost every morning I notice a fresh trail of carefully torn up cards and little pieces of paper scattered along the path from around the airport to as far north as 14th street bridge. I have never stopped to dawn rubber gloves and see what the paper is, but its orange on one side and white on the other.

Does anyone have an idea if its Smokey Bob the umbrella man or some other weird bike path traveler? Is it some kind of bread crumb trail? It must happen after the evening commute and before ~6:15am when I hit the path. My latest evenings are around 6:30pm.

I would love to find the guilty party and politely educate them about littering and appreciating park values while visiting a national park. Or maybe super glue their hands together to make it more difficult to litter.

It's not Smokey Bob, aka, The Marlboro Man. Back when my commute was even earlier than it is nowadays, I saw the culprit (around 5:45am-ish was when I usually passed him); he's usually pushing a shopping cart. Appeared harmless, but likely homeless.

Today it was a McDonald's bag and a French fry container all carefully torn up in little piles all the way from the airport to the bridge.

If it's possible to narrow down the time frame to an hour or so maybe a call to the park police is warranted? They could send someone out to find the culprit. If it's the homeless person maybe they can put him in touch with some social service workers. Or at least give him a case of trash bags.

It's been going on for a while..... I think I asked about it at one point too, but I couldn't find that thread.

Agree that it's irritating to see.

PS - this post is now like Inception where you can go 3 layers deep into prior threads on the same subject. This will cause you to think you asked about the phenomena years ago, and the subsequent epiphany related to all this will make you want to sell your multi-national, billion dollar company to me for a couple hundred bucks.

Wow that has been going on for over 5 years! Thanks for digging up those old threads.

Maybe we can find another mental case that likes to clean things up rather than litter and have them follow along behind a couple hours later with a broom and dustpan? Kind of therapeutic to both forms of compulsion.

There is a man that I call the Trash Walker. He picks up trash every morning on his walks north of Old Town. So the news isn't all bad.
