Teensy bit jealous, but I will drown my sorrows at Right Proper after work. It's entirely possible I'll need to leave before the official start of the happy hour, but I'll still be right and proper.

    Default Bikepacking!

Arrived after sunset but was still able to set up my tent in the afterglow.

Saw at least 5 other bike campers along the way, but luckily there's just two at the campsite I chose, and I set up on the opposite end.

Gina, your source is correct, the water is on!

Ahhhh, nothing like a solo shakedown trip. So fun!

My family went car camping (my son is 3) this weekend at Antietam Creek Campground on the C&O. The campsite pump wasn't working yet, but we brought water so it wasn't an issue. The thing Antietam Creek has going for it is that it's 20 tent sites can be reserved in advance, online. It's about 10 miles north of Harper's Ferry, so it's a good basecamp for sightseeing rides. I was tempted to bring my new Rivendell on a car rack so that I could ride the 70 miles back to Arlington yesterday afternoon by myself. But the bike doesn't come first.

Some of the new gear I was trying for the first time:
    1. Big Agnes Fly Creek HV UL2 with MTNGLO - very light, airy, but a little big for 1 person. I got this size so my wife and I will have a little more room. Didn't use the fly because I didn't think it would rain. The built in light is swank. The poles were a little long for my frame bag, but I was able to wrestle them in. Shouldn't be a problem if you have a non-weird bike and non-weird frame bag
    2. Big Agnes Air Core Ultra pad - super cushy, a little heavy
    3. Big Agnes Skeeter SL20 sleeping bag - hot for that night's weather. I love how it has the sleeping pad holder so you don't keep sliding off of it.
    4. Jones Truss fork packs - very specific for this fork, but if you have one, these are awesome. Very stable, easy to get into and holds a lot of gear.
    5. Foxelli camping stove - uber small, cheap, and works well

One thing to note about camping at the Horsepen Branch campsite is that you should probably bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. I forgot mine, and woke up at 3:50am because there were police sirens going off on the other side of the river (thanks Virginia!), then airplanes came roaring through at 6:30am (again, thanks!). Virginia, with all its policing and planing so early in the morning, sheesh! (wink)

One thing I dig about riding through the city on my way home is the all the choices of yummy food after the long ride
