Yes getting to the plowed TR Bridge may involve some walking.

Default 3/14/17 Scenes of the MVT Part 1

Except for Trollheim, not too bad. (Edited to add: "Not too bad" is relative. Driving a Pugsley with studded tires creates a unique viewpoint)

Default 3/14/17 Scenes of the MVT Part 2

The southern National Airport bridge has a good size sheet of solid smooth ice. The rider in front of me ended up sideways, but made a good catch.

I would've guessed "sparkly" but maybe that's more than PG-13.

I ask because I want to go from Rosslyn to Wed. night spins tonight. I plan to take the 110 trail to ANC, avoiding the Trollheim section. Then I can either take the MVT to LBJ Grove to Boundary Channel (last section shoveled by the Trio of Incredibleness) or schlep the Wash Blvd. trail to Boundary Channel.
    Suggestions, anyone?
"Trio of incredibleness" made me laugh out loud. Their efforts sure are incredible!

It's still pretty much ice packed.

I laid the bike (and myself) down west of Vienna this morning. Riding on the snow alongside the trail was fun for awhile, until I hit a sheet of not-snow. Hurt my palm and thumb a bit (seems just bruised/strained), but otherwise unharmed. I should have gone mountain biking instead, which I suspect would have been a lot of fun, though may also have involved falling. Oh well. It's probably a great time to take a couple of rest days

Edit: yes, with studded tires (45NRTH Xerxes). I do sometimes consider getting more aggressively studded tires, but I should really just stick to the roads if I feel compelled to ride on days like today.

Thanks for that info. Roosevelt Bridge is indeed passable, will have to let D.C. know it's appreciated. There are a few spots where I66 plows must have pushed some touch ups onto the walk.

And on my approach even the TR Island project Mulchweg was rideable!

Spout Run ice rink had almost completely sublimated by yesterday afternoon. As of this morning, just one, easy-to-avoid patch.

Of course, it will melt some today and refreeze tonight.
