Default Climate Ride: Red White and Blue Ridge

Registration is now open for Climate Ride's newest 2017 ride: Red White and Blue Ridge! This 3-day, 200 + mile cycling adventure takes you from the scenic and historic Blue Ridge Parkway to the US Capitol in Washington, DC. You’ll then have the chance to meet with your representatives to make your voice heard. Participants must fundraise a minimum of $2000 for a nonprofit working hard for renewable energy, bike advocacy or sustainability. You pick the benefiting organization and Climate Ride staff will help you achieve your fundraising goal. For a complete list of our beneficiary nonprofit organizations, click here. Experience the thrill of touring by bicycle with a community united by their passion for sustainability, renewable energy, and bicycles. I rode from NY to DC a few years ago with Climate Ride as part of Team WABA. The Climate Ride folks did a great job with support. WABA is a beneficiary again this year, but is listed under Virginia and Maryland for some reason. Statehood?

I am strongly considering this. I've never done a 3 day ride before... or biked Blueridge... or raised money for charity... much less $2,000... but somehow it seems doable? Like perhaps if I baked cookies and brought them to Coffee Clubs and happy hours maybe folks would contribute? I'd definitely ride for WABA as my beneficiary cause.

I'll give you $100, so you're really down to just 1900.

For anyone considering this year's ride through Shenandoah...... Do it!!! I participated with Climate Ride on the NYC to DC route last year, and I can't say enough good things about the whole experience. The Climate Ride team took excellent care of us, and we had nothing to worry about besides riding our bikes and thinking about saving the Earth. Evenings were fun and great opportunities to make connections. The fundraising was not as daunting as you might fear.

WABA is having a Climate Ride meet-and-greet at their offices this Wednesday evening. And the NatGeo team is doing one at lunchtime on Thursday, if you happen to be downtown.

Already 90 people registered for Climate Ride 'Red White & Blue Ridge' ride. 25 SPOTS LEFT. Three days of riding along the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah National Park, and into Washington DC. September 24-26, 2017.

    WABA's information meeting is tonight.

Or if you can, join the NatGeo team for lunch tomorrow! Just let me know to expect you.
