Default Custis Trail: Lyon Village, 1/26/17 pm commute

Around 7 pm, coming through the Lyon Village corner on the Custis Trail (if you're coming east, you come down the S-curve, then the trail goes 90degrees left at the Lyon Village corner and then up hill behind the Italian store) was crazy. Flares on the trail, tons of sticks and tree debris on the off ramp, 3-4 police cars, full lights in the parking lot. One tree down, but cleared from the trail. One car on a flat bed on Lee highway, which was down to one lane west bound.

    Anyone know the story?

The tree that fell across the trail fell on that car that was on the flatbed. EnthusiGator had some pictures on his ride (I think his activities are public - sorry if they're not).

I know we live in Arlington, but 3-4 police cars for one tree falling on one car? Seriously?

Looks like they blocked two lanes of WB Lee Highway toward the tail end of rush hour. I'm not going to second guess them.

AAA notes it is part of the ongoing War on Cars. The tree was along a trail after all
