Approaching Höchst a.d. Nidder. This shows one of the frustrating things about German cycle routes, how they will sometimes just veer away from the road they are following and lead you who knows where.

I was riding my Rove instead of my Pistola because when I went to the storage room, I found a flat rear tire on the Pistola and I didn't want to bother to change it. Since I was on he Rove I decided I should explore some gravel and started deviating from my planned route.

Still playing on the gravel I found part of the DT Limes Radweg. There was fresh gravel, but it was compacted and mied with crushed stone so it was more cycle friendly than what I was riding on Sunday.

Having laid out a few timber sales in my younger days I loved seeing all the logs staged to go to the mill. Forestry with typical German precision. American timber sales look like a bomb went off in comparison.

So how does biking in Germany compared to here? Better trails? Are drivers more cautious? What about biking etiquette? I would love to ride through southern Germany since it looks beautiful.
