I am the acting captain, but anyone who wants to volunteer to be team captain can be team captain! Just post here and nominate yourself!

I've set the team name to 'Team 9 [FROM OUTER SPACE]' but we can totally change it if someone thinks of something better. I can't remember if this was used before, but if it has, we should change it.

It was great to meet you Dane and we don't look sad in that picture! I'm looking forward to meeting other Team 9 members too. By way of virtual introduction, I'm Robyne. I live in Fairfax and commute to Ballston daily. I'll play reindeer games, mostly on the weekends, and will try to get to the occasional coffee club. And I'll probably set up a few happy hours.

And regarding our team name ... may I remind everyone that Velominati's rule 9 is AWESOMELY perfect for the freezing saddles competition. http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/

    Happy and safe riding!

Sorry I could not make it. Was late at the office and then just rode straight home. I am Bryan and live in the Del Ray area. I have a longer commute now this year with the office having moved to Van Ness so that should help the team a bit. Anyway, I look forward to meeting everybody.

That's a good idea but that is what team nine used last year! Unless last year's team 9 captain is on this team and feels compelled to carry the torch, I say we come up with something original. The funnier the better.

    :P

Hey guys, sorry I wasn't able to make it to HH last night. Thanks to Dane for getting the ball rolling and taking care of team captain stuff. Dane, if you're looking to pass the baton, I'm cool with taking it. So there ya go, I hereby nominate myself. Besides herding cats I'm willing to organize some team group rides and most importantly, happy hours. But for real tho, we won't have much of a team without everyone getting into it. So what say you Team 9, are we ready to do this?

First off, it would be helpful if everyone introduces themselves a bit and includes where they live so we can figure out how best to coordinate for happy hours and possible rides. Me, I live in Fairlington, just up the hill from Shirlington, and try to commute downtown to work as much as possible. Longer rides on the weekends, I like gravel in Loudoun County, the Wednesday night L!G!A! ride on the towpath, and whatever looks like fun and fits my schedule.

    Now your turn...

I was sorry not to make it to the HH too. I'm Kathy and live in Shirlington and commute to the Capital Hill area almost every workday except when I telework, and on those days I often try to at least commute to a coffee club. I'm almost always at the Weds. Hump Day coffee club in Shirlington, and try to make at least one other coffee club on other days - Tues at Crystal City Cosi, Thurs at Pentagon City Whole Foods (the WTF Coffee Club) or Fri. at A Baked Joint in DC. Most of my riding is during the week, but I pretty much ride at least somewhere every day.

I know at least a few members of our team already, a great group - Dane, Robyne (who comes to us with the gold nugget award for 104(?) miles on Jan 1 - all of which help our team!), and ctankcycles, whose nomination I happily second if Dane wants to pass the baton.

This is my 5th year of Freezing Saddles (all of its existence) and it's been great fun every time! I'd be glad to help organize some happy hours or other get-togethers. Del Rey area is one favorite area (anyone up for a casual dinner at the Evening Star Cafe?), but I'm open to anything and know we'll want to make sure we have some events that are nearer to other team members who live further out. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hey everyone, I'm Rebecca. It's my first year for freezing saddles and first year as a bike commuter! Just moved to the area in April and live near Clarendon, work near Ballston. I'm trying to embrace the more car free life that living in this area allows. I bike to work everyday and get out on the weekends whenever possible. I'm definitely up for a group ride or happy hour!
