Saturday was also Crooked Run Central's official grand opening. It was really crowded, with loud music, and a taco restaurant built in. WAY different from the original Crooked Run in Leesburg, which is one of my favourite breweries.

I had the Night Cap, which was a porter. It was good. Nice and malty, but kind of generic and not what I would have expected out of Crooked Run. I am hoping that once the "newness" wears off, it will become a bit more like the original Crooked Run (which, is still open, by the way... They are doing most of their "fun" brews at the old location).

The last stop was Beltway Brewing. I really wanted to try one of their contract brews, but I was not sure if that was allowed. The contract brews ARE brewed there, just under a different brewery name. To be on the safe side, I grabbed a Hansel, which is their signature sour. It is actually a really good "intro to sour beers" beer. A little pucker, but not overly sour/bitter.

I would have also had one of the contract beers, but the clouds were rolling in and I did not bring rain gear. We did end up getting rained on for the last three or four miles. But all in all, it was a good day!

Pictured is their pilsner, which was fine but I forget the name. I liked the Spotswood's Expedition, a coffee black lager made with local coffee, better than the pilsner, but I didn't like the photo as much.

FYI - I miscounted mine. I just updated the post titles, but my final total was 16, not 17.

Well, I still haven't made it to the Heimatmuseum Dotzheim for the beer brewers exhibition in Wiesbaden, but a craft beer festival is coming to my neighborhood at the end of the month!
