Can't see the data. I don't see it as poorly timed or whatever; actual data would be interesting to see.
Its point to point. You start at Laurel Hill in the morning and ride to Lake Fairfax. The only difference between the 40 and 65 is the 40 goes straight there via the CCT, and the 65 rides a lot of...
Err, yeah, C&O isn't a good benchmark. A good portion of the route is like it, certainly, but the northern 18ish miles is almost entirely singletrack. It isn't super technical singletrack, but it...
I'd go with the Ogre, personally, but thats because I hate riding drop bars off road. The 40 mile is going to be mostly gravel or pavement for the first 22 miles, and once you get past Oak Marr park...
I honestly think its standard boilerplate for office buildings, and actual enforcement varies wildly. I know bikes weren't allowed in the building at all according to the rules at the place I used...
The worst I ever saw on the W&OD was a guy with a department store bike with the fork installed backwards. I'd bet it probably came that way.
I'm not a fan of dual pedals. They tend to be frustrating to use as clipless (since you have to flip them around while riding to clip in sometimes) and sucky as platforms. I'd just decide if you...
I believe its a form of search-engine bombing; by creating a ton of accounts on forums that let user profiles be publicly viewed, and then putting spam links in the signatures of those accounts, the...
I'm actually kinda disappointed that I took off work tomorrow... but I took off so I could drive up to Dirtfest and spend the weekend camping and mountain biking. So thats a nice consolation prize. ...
Arguments aside, there is no question that dedicated bike facilities help get new people riding bikes. New people riding bikes are a good thing.
If it helps, here are a few loops I put together for after work rides I do with friends of mine. All are setup to leave from the Reston Town Center.

Well, I can't help with Fairfax loops around that area, but I can definitely comment that the W&OD isn't that bad heading west from Gallows, even at rush hour. Things can get a little crowded around...
That kind of crap is totally unacceptable. Hope you catch the guy.
Ah, NY continues their steady march to banzoring all the things.
I use Cinelli gel cork tape. No complaints.
The live tracking is, I believe, cell based. It connects through your phone using garmins app. The unit itself has no connectivity other than bluetooth.
As for maps, the best ones available are...
I always enjoyed the people who killed themselves trying to keep me from passing. It was a nice game to just hang on their wheel, occasionally coasting, and try and guess when they'd finally explode...
I'd have thought most recumbent oriented shops carry them (since lots of recumbents run 20" wheels).
When I converted an old cheap road bike, I bought a set of Iro standard wheels. Looks like they run $150 or so. They don't list spacing, but the ones I have are threaded axles with spacers, so...
Just as a point of comparison, I commute 14 miles round trip every day on my full carbon, sub 15lb Ibis Silk. I pack my stuff in a messenger bag. When I started commuting in 2005, I did panniers...
Welcome to the forum!
For your situation, I'd recommend a road bike of some sort. Take a few hours on a saturday, hit up a few local shops and test ride everything in your price range. $1000 is...
From the W&OD, turn onto West St in Falls Church. It becomes Williamsburg St. Follow it left to stay on Williamsburg at the light at Roosevelt (at the shopping center), and follow it left again a...
Can't comment on running, but back in my skateboarding days I noticed a distinct difference in feel falling on asphalt versus concrete. Asphalt had noticeably more give to it.
No problem, I'm just happy to see them again. ;) If I had disposable income, I'd have one just because they are so lovely.
I'm an architect by profession; my dad is a very dedicated hobbiest...
