Yeah, all these are comments are fair. It just seems strange that, eg thinking of those signs on W&OD (I think?) that say to call your passes, the emphasis is on calling passes rather than not making...

At risk of further derailing this thread, why is "call your passes" such a point of emphasis? If I'm driving a car, no one expects me to honk before passing someone. If I'm jogging, no one expects me...

I ended up buying these Castelli bibs and they're great! Very light and comfortable. Thanks again for all the recommendations.

Castelli sizing makes no sense to me -- I'm XL in their winter...

After moving last spring, I made it exactly 1.5 weeks of commuting on Lee Hwy before being hit by a car. Now I take a slightly longer route but I don't feel like my life is in danger every afternoon.

Separate lanes for bikes and pedestrians is really nice...

I have the same backpack that sethpo mentioned (except mine is the 22 rather than 18) and it's great. They are really lightweight and I never carry a laptop so waterproofing isn't important to me.
