Funny to read this, because usually when I buy lunch at work in DC I try to maximize my calories/$ (within reason - no soda refills, etc.) - firstly because I'm hungry enough, and secondly because...

I always just cross here as if I'm jaywalking (jaybiking?), as if there's no green pedestrian light at all. I'm not sure having this sign is really going to help - the ability to go right on red at...

I only rode part of the Custis (DoomSpiral to Rosslyn) - it was mostly clear but definitely a few spots with slush, thin ice, etc. Rideable on slicks with caution I think (I was on studded tires).

    This is confusing me!

Some 23mms are nicer than others, but yeah I see no reason not to use 25-28mm tires as a minimum tire size. My FG has a 28mm on the back now and that'll probably never change.

Trails from Van Buren in FC to Rosslyn was so well groomed! Better than the streets around my 'hood. I'm guessing they're working their way further up the W&OD too?

I do exactly the same thing. I'm planning to switch my converted-hybrid to FG full-time. I did 3.5 races on it (0.5 = pit bike usage) as a SSCX but it's had so many flats (not in races thankfully)...

I got the Japanese (made in China) ones, wore them today. They do seem to help a little, although it's hard to really tell.

That's what we have (but not manual). We looked at the Subarus and test drove one but they all got huge. (I grew up in Fiat and Toyota station wagons. Parents still drive a Camry wagon.)

I've enjoyed my dixie cog although I have to admit I've only switched it over once - from 42-18 to 42-16 when I was learning to ride dixed. On crank length - I'm fine with 170s, seems a decent...
