I find a helmet mount to be invaluable when riding in the streets with cars; it also allows me to look further down the road for potholes, glass, etc. and light up scary dark places, like under...
So who is going tomorrow?
RCannon - 47
RCannon's son - 68
I don't have anything to sell at the moment but I purchased a Cannondale Synapse 44 cm bike that fits me well. I'm 5'2". It's a major pain finding small women bikes. I understand Fuji makes small...
Yeah, what I meant was the S. Washington Blvd sidewalk route whatever route number that is. I've never considered going thru the base and cemetery when the weather is bad; I'll have to give that...
Darn, I'm flying out of town tonight. :(
Seems like Clarendon/Ballston would be a great place for another BikeStation or a bike valet service. I'd rather pay a few dollars for a valet (more secure, I can leave my stuff on my bike) than be...
If the MVT isn't going to be plowed, I'm hosed if we have another crappy winter. Need to get across the river from Pentagon City to L'Enfant. Would prefer to cut thru the Pentagon Reservation, over...
Wow, so sorry to hear this happened to you and am glad you are largely ok. Very sad that neither driver stopped to see if you were ok. Sigh.
Awesome tip! Thanks!
I signed up for the ride yesterday. Am hoping to do the 68 miler but will switch to the 47 if the weather is poor. Will be my first time at the event. Look for me!

Send your pic and story to that infamous WashPost columnist (Milroy?) and the transportation journalist at the same paper. This is quite extraordinary!
That's what happens when you forget your kevlar underwear. :p
Get thee some industrial sized Tegaderm stat!
I'm disappointed, and rather perplexed, that the Custis trail extension (yeah!) doesn't segregate ped and cycle traffic (boo!) given that there appears to be enough room to do so.
As a long time Pentagon City resident, I can tell you that I go through that intersection if I'm heading to Georgetown by car or to GW Parkway (I try to avoid that route if I'm heading to the latter...
A friend from Oregon just shared this with me:
I live in Wilsonville Oregon and thought I would share that the city started indicating storm drains with nice bright white stripes.
Just a head's up:
Thanks so much for hosting! ;)
Thinking long term, I can only assume that the cycletracks will be numbered like street routes eventually (the UK is already doing that) so that may play a roll into what to call them. The UK even...

The racks in front of my work building have been full almost every day since the start of the month. I think we set a new record today. It's becoming a pain finding a parking spot, esp since some...
That's because they are *not* designed properly in this country. Go to Iceland to experience roundabouts that have two lanes but do not allow dangerous lane crossovers and keep traffic moving (there...
