Yeah I had to look up the street names when making the post.
I may show up this week, taking Friday off because of Memorial Day. Planning on riding to Mount Vernon and back, so a morning pit stop may be in order.
Me: Riding on W&OD heading east just past N Washington Street
You: Coming up the connection to 19th street to turn onto trail heading west without looking or stopping almost causing me to t-bone...
Had a great time and it was awesome to meet everybody. Thanks again to the organizers, can't wait for the next one (even if it is in the far away land of DC).
I knew that would come back and bite me in the ass...
Here comes the rain...
30% chance of rain, isolated thunderstorms. Not too worried about it.
It can be difficult to clean the cap. I rinse out the lid and mug after each use, and give it a good soak once a week. I have also heard of people using pipe cleaners to give the opening mechanism a...
Contigo. Auto seals, air tight, does not spill, keeps coffee hot for hours, or cold (iced coffee) for longer. I fill mine at around 6:30am and even at 9 I'm still drinking decently hot coffee out of...
This is close enough to me that I have very little excuse not to attend. Will be my first Bike Arlington/WABA social gathering. I assume you all will be easy to spot, not like Westover is huge.
The sunscreen into the eyes always sucks. Guess you could use a headband, but that may not work with a helmet.
Went for a 50 mile ride from Ballston to Ashburn on Custis and W&OD yesterday. Forgot sunscreen, paying for it today.

Arms are worse. Learn from my mistakes...
Came home from work today and the bird wasn't there. Hopefully she hasn't abandoned the nest.
Shhh! I don't need the wife finding out that this is a trained bird and this nest thing is just a ploy to bring my bike inside...
I haven't been able to ride my non-commuter bike (Trek Ion CX with road tires when not doing CX) for about 2 weeks. I keep it on my balcony under a bike cover to protect it from the elements. Today...
Looks like a good turn out. I may try and show up next week. It's a bit past my destination of Clarendon and I normally get to work at 7 but this seems like a good excuse for some schedule adjustment.
This should really be a catalyst for increased police patrols on the trails. Put some cops on bikes and have them ride the trails.
That's crazy! Glad you are OK. Hope they catch these guys.
Blog got a blurb in the Morning Notes post from ArlNow this morning.
Edit: Comments are already getting fun....
Funny, but the comments on that post make my head hurt.
Awesome idea. A bit of shaming for the violators. I often see the Marymount shuttle parked on Fairfax in front of the Ballston metro blocking half the bike lane. Will have to take a pic next time.

Not sure who to report that to.
I do worry about rust, but the cover does a good job of keeping moisture away. I also check it regularly for any signs of rust, in addition to making sure everything is properly lubed up.
This is true. For some reason I equate getting the bike out with "effort" instead of just walking out the door. Riding is faster than walking though, and more fun.
If it rains I'll normally...
My apartment complex also has a locked cage, but I refuse to use it because of the risk of theft and the annoyance of having to go to parking garage when I want to ride. My wife does not like my...
