We really do have the nicest spam bots of any online forum.
A Tandem! After taking a nice tandem ride with my dear daughter this summer we have been looking for a cheap used tandem for us to putter around on. I found an early 1980s (?) Gottfried tandem on craig's list. Not a terribly desirable or high tech light weight bike but it looked to be low miles, all there and the price was less than its rear hub alone. the bike has 700c wheels and the rear has a nice near new Phil Woods tandem hub with a Mavic wheel and 3rd (drum) brake.
Stripped it to bare frame and ultrasonic cleaned all the greasy parts. All the grease and oil was dried hard but there was little wear on anything. Looks like the bike originally came with center or side pull brakes that were replaced with add on cantilever brakes. The brakes would twist out of alignment when pulled hard so I made 2 yokes from some scrap aluminum to cure that. We finished it just in time for wet weather which my Dear Daughter seems to be too smart to want to ride in.
Bicycles, blah blah...
MORE 356.
Le Sigh...At least my girl likes the bike....:) Good thing I did not take pictures with the other side of the shop in the background. (note to self. Bike images in front of garage not inside garage.
57 coupe converted into a race car a long time ago and then raced as the Good Dr. intended. It has rubbed paint in many a corner. I am converting it back to rat rod street form for a fellow Porsche nut. Bathtubs are fun but Longhoods are downright sexy.
freshly built Tarmac included to cover the bike content requirement.
I love that, like you said, you race these cars like they were intended to be. Too many lead a life of back-and-forth to the mall and never clean the carbon off the plugs.
Tandem bicycle content - are cantis really strong enough to stop that bike in a hurry? I'd take a hard look at mini-Vs for it.
As to the brakes I don't know just yet. Fresh un ridden build but will test the setup single then with an added 90 pounds of happy chatty stoker. The bike also has a drum brake but that seems to be more for speed tuning rather than panic or hard stopping. EDIT just looked at mini V. Llike I might be able to convert the existing setup to mini v if needed. Thanks for the tip.
Wish I got to flog the 356. all I get to do is undo all the built up "racing residue" left by others. I can attest that the rude crude white one in the background dispenses pure compressed adrenaline and the underpowered but rewarding green one generates smiles.
