It makes no difference what your pannier looks like so long as you can get used to the feel. You put in hardcore mileage (a.k.a. stud) and I'm sure your wife appreciates that fact irrespective of what gear you've got. And baby Charlie loves you no matter what...

Rear hub. That's the bolt-on cog facing out; the thread-on cog is currently on the other side.

Sweet ride, I really like the wheels, and the color. I wish I had the confidence to ride a bike with only one gear. Also, what does the second brake lever do? I see no cable and no rear brake.
