    Correct, there is an 8-AA battery pack in my bag and I use an old USB extension cable as the male/female disconnect for it. My bike lives outdoors, but if I leave my batteries out there on a 10-20 degree day, I'll come out to no lights. The setup actually had some flaws in it, and I'm building a whole new design for this coming winter. Stay tuned!
