Papillon Monuments at Night Redux
It is time for a Papillon Cycles tradition- our Monuments at Night Ride...Redux. The Capital City is uniquely beautiful at night, and what better way to tour all that illuminated marble than by bike? Our route does use a section of Columbia Pike (We *will* do so safely) down to the Pentagon, then to Lady Bird Johnson Park, where we continue an enroute meetup location for those coming from elsewhere, then across the river. Jefferson Memorial, FDR (4th Term to 1st), MLK, the District's WW I Memorial, Lincoln, Vietnam, WW II, and more, then back. This is the traditional route- https://www.google.com/maps/dir/2805...9443!3e1?hl=en. Which we can extend eastward to the Capital if everyone is so inspired (and we have in the past)! Approximately 13 miles or so round trip. Food and libations await at any of a couple of places across the intersection from us.
THIS IS A NIGHT RIDE. We recommend front and rear lighting to carry you for 2 hours in total darkness. And helmets, of course. An easy pace- we are not racing, and we will gleefully welcome cargo bikes, if they choose to show. We leave no one behind.
Saturday, September 22. meet at Papillon Cycles at 7:00pm. Wheels up 7:15 or so.
