I took this photo of your teammate, from the warmth of my dining room/home office, as she took the kids to school for the first time since the broken foot. You're welcome.

Hey team,

In case you haven't been following the other team's threads, a number of people are going to the Port City Pedals & Pints (https://www.facebook.com/events/188005448214168/) ride tomorrow. I cannot make it, sadly, but I believe a convoy will be going from the Bluemont caboose (not sure what time) and another is meeting at Best Buns Shirlington at 9am for a 10am rollout.

All have moved the start to Best Buns. Come one, come all! Just be sure to RSVP on FB so the ride organizers know you're coming.

Save me a bacon cheddar scone to have with my Long Black Veil. Then FedEx them to me. Seriously. It's snowing in Kyiv right now and I need some relief supplies.

Hey guys,

In case you haven't checked the Strava group lately, please do. I posted an invitation. I know some of you have seen it, because you responded, but I'm not sure all of you have.
Stay warm!

Team! We've fallen to 10th place. It would be good to get back on track with 12-13 of us riding each day. Consistency is key!

Well, we have whine club tomorrow (Saturday) evening at вул. Бульварно-Кудрявська if anyone is interested, it's byob, no more than 300 грн per bottle. ;)

Schedule permitting, I am definitely up for this. We should do it in DC, since a plurality of our team is there. I don't mind crossing the river.
If at a brewpub, we can add a beerneuring point.

How about Wednesday February 24 at Shaw Brewpub 624 T St NW, 6pm?

Couldn't help but eavesdrop on your conversation - your teammate (my wife) and I are planning (though it still may fall through) a kid-hauling pace ride from NW DC up to Denizens (http://denizensbrewingco.com/) in Silver Spring on Sunday, probably just after lunch (they open at 1). That might fit the bill for you. Though Silver Spring is a hike from VA, I think.

So who's going? I want to come out but I think I'll wait out the narrow line of intense thunderstorms that is about to roll through ~30 minutes from now (if my WeatherBug radar map reading skills are not way off).

DismalScientist
02-24-2016, 05:42 PM
Nope. That line is going south to north. It may take a few hours to get here and it's gonna last a good long time.

lbds137
02-24-2016, 05:51 PM
It's definitely here now, and I think it'll have moved on within an hour. Not sure where that leaves me with regard to the happy hour, but I'd rather stay in than risk it.

I am here, late, but decided to wait out the storm for a bit. Still wet and nasty and the drivers are crap. Should we try again next week?

Nope. That line is going south to north. It may take a few hours to get here and it's gonna last a good long time.

That's what I thought, and then it caught me around St Anne's. The hail was fun.

Hey everyone,
I just learned that Glenn on our team was hit by a driver a week or two ago. I don't know the details, but not so serious that he won't be able to ride again in the next week or so. That's all I know. I learned this from our Strava team discussion board.

Additional details:

So I was hit by a car while riding back from a meeting Sunday [2/14] afternoon. I'm pretty much ok, nothing broken - except my bike - but I have a couple bad contusions on my left thigh and I also whacked my arm pretty hard when I hit the pavement. Already feeling much better then I did late Sunday but I am still really stiff on the left side and will be out of the office on Tuesday [2/16].

...

My arm is much better but my leg is still pretty sore and stiff. But even there the contusion on the thigh is looking better and I am able to sit in a chair ok today [2/17] where yesterday I still pretty much had to keep my leg straight.

the road [bike] has a broken seat stay. and the rear wheel is completely trashed. not sure about the power meter yet, will probably need that to be checked out by the bike shop. Same thing with the front wheel

And my jacket, bib tights, two layers of shoe covers and the buckle on my left shoe are also trashed

he [the driver] tried to pass me on the left while I was making a left turn

the place he passed had no shoulder on the road so I was in the single travel lane and had been singling for a couple hundred meters.

err sign[a]ling that is

Good news is the bike shop has the replacement frame for my primary CX bike and has started to build that. Bad news is I won’t be able to do the race I was supposed to on Sunday [2/21]

Glenn,

So sorry to hear this. Hope you heal up and come back strong! Get well soon!!

Hey team,

I think we are the most likely team to win the "Pullling Together" prize, for having everyone chipping in most equally.

Our last place rider had more points than the last place rider on every other team.

Our first place rider had fewer points than the first place rider on every other team, save one.
We also came in second place in number of days ridden by team (http://freezingsaddles.com/pointless/alt_scoring/team_riders)

If that's not "Pulling Together," I don't know what is. Way to go, XX!!!!

Sorry, Team XX. Based on how uniformly strong you were as a team, I also thought that you were going to win the "Pulling Together" prize. But after crunching the numbers, it turns out that the members of Team 1 had the lowest standard deviation among their scores.

If it's any consolation, you were very close to Team 1 -- and both you and Team 1 blew all the other teams out of the water on this metric. Congrats on the strong team effort for FS2016.
