This week's Sunday century is on Monday, Indian Head One Hundred unless anyone has other ideas. Ride to and from and get 200. I'm gonna be out of town. This is my plan for the rest of the challenge period. Saturday Sept. 12; 50 States Ride. Sunday September 13;? Saturday Sept. 19; Boundary Stone Ride (http://boundarystonedc.com/event/3rd-annual-boundary-stone-bike-ride/). Sunday Sept. 20, Gravel Weather (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10201312). Saturday Sept. 26 Cotoctin Criss Cross (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9758812). Sunday Sept. 27 Tour Du Port "Urban Adventure" Route (http://www.tourduport.org). "...this route is not for the faint of heart. Mountain bike and trail ride skills are strongly recommended. DO NOT ATTEMPT WITH A ROAD BIKE! :)

I had never heard of this ride until you said this. Now I want to do it on my Bianchi with 28mm road tires. I'll probably die.

Hmm. My mother-in-law will be here that weekend. I could maybe get away. I do have knobby cross tires for that bike...

I think I'll ride 35c semi-knobby.

Has anyone done the Port to Pennisula Route of the Tour du Port? Do they close down the expressway while the event is happening? From some streetview Google pics along the route show it to be probably the most unscenic bike route I've come across. Am I missing the appeal of this ride?

"Gravel Weather" is mostly gravel, with a 2 mile unpaved climb up Mount Weather 9% avg. grade with two 14% sections 0.3mi at the beginning and the last 0.6mi to the Blue Ridge Mountain Rd. The easy way up Mt. Weather (from the north) is the hardest climb I've ridden and I struggled, so this one has me worried. https://www.strava.com/segments/6326104

I used to live in Pasadena, on the other side of the Patapsco River, so I've explored some of that area.

North Point State Park is fabulous. In addition to a full-on view of the Chesapeake Bay, they have a swimming beach and a great network of trails. You might not get to stay long enough to enjoy the place on an organized ride, but it is beautiful.

The rest of the route goes through Dundalk and crosses Bear Creek. It looks like you'd get a glimpse of the Port of Baltimore, and the (now-defunct) Sparrows Point steel plant, very industrial but interesting in its own right. A representative slice of Baltimore suburban character.
