I just got out of the Navy and am moving to Norfolk, VA in February. I was wondering if anyone here knew of any bike shops with available positions(part or full time). Or a direction to point me in. I dont have any experience and am still relatively knew to cycling, but I love it and would really enjoy working around it.

-wasnt sure where else to post this. I apologize if this isnt the place for it.

Are you looking to work in a bike shop around the DC area or are you asking about Norfolk?

If you're asking for around here, both Revolution Cycles and Conte's in Arlington have had "want ads" posted in the past couple weeks.

If you're looking elsewhere, check out Ride the City's Bike Job Page (http://www.bikingjobs.com/jobs).

Yea I was talking about the DC area. Something to keep me busy until my move to Norfolk. Thank you!

Did I remember correctly that you once said you liked REI (one of my favorite places, too)? Because that would be another possibliity. I'm sure they staff up in the warm months and then the Christmas rush, which would suit your time frame.

The danger would be spending the whole paycheck with the employee discount (or at least it would be for me).

Haha! Yes that would be a large issue. I'm somewhat disciplined with my spending though. Thanks for the help!

Performance Bike seems to turn over a lot of help, dunno if there's one convenient for you.

Don't know that I'd tell a prospective employer that you're only doing it until you move though. As a hiring manager I'd pass on that basis. Just saying.

Yea I'm trying to keep that part out of the applications. It may have slipt into one, cant remember. I havent had to apply for a job in 9 years so I hope I dont screw up to many. ;)

Revolution Cycles in Clarendon is currently hiring: manager and staff. Saw it on their website today.

Just wanted to update this quick. I found a job at revolution cycles in Clarendon as a sales associate. It's a lot of fun and a lot to learn. I'm really enjoying working here. Great people and some really nice toys to play with.
