Regrettably, I will be away on travel. That means everyone else may stay as long as they like.

06-15-2015, 10:07 AM
I am planning on being there.

06-15-2015, 10:28 AM
According to the forecast, there is a 60% chance that I will be there. :D

Count me in, Kathy!

06-15-2015, 02:45 PM

I'm hoping to make this event since I'm already going stir crazy at home with a broken ankle. Will find out tomorrow from the ortho what my next six weeks look like. If I'm in a cast and my knee scooter works well I should be there (albeit driving of course!). :p

06-16-2015, 06:40 PM
I hope to be there granted that I can hobble on over, as I'm nursing a bum leg like klizotte (but w/out broken bones)

06-17-2015, 08:28 AM
I am in

06-17-2015, 12:00 PM
Are we going to be inside or outside?

50/50 but trying my best to skirt clients.

06-18-2015, 09:27 AM
Hi Kathy, sorry for the late RSVP, please count me in!

06-18-2015, 09:42 AM
50/50 but trying my best to skirt clients.

Why are you trying to put your clients in skirts???? [emoji41]

06-18-2015, 09:47 AM
50/50 but trying my best to skirt clients.

I'm sure they will find you with their drones. Hopefully they won't be fully armed.

06-18-2015, 09:52 AM
Note to self: Do NOT sit next to Dickie.

06-18-2015, 01:00 PM
This is still on, right? If so, barring a horrific thunderstorm, I'll be there.

Will stop by briefly... unless work forces me to... work!

06-18-2015, 01:42 PM
Okay, I should be there, at least for a little bit. :D

06-18-2015, 02:52 PM
We're definitely on for this evening (nothing stops this group) -- outside under the awning of the building, starting around 5 pm. See you all soon!

I'll bring nametags and maybe some maps and forum tags for our newcomers.

06-18-2015, 03:25 PM
I'm going to wait to leave home until the approaching storm cell passes through. Will get out the bike with fenders.

06-18-2015, 03:37 PM
It's hailing here in Merrifield and we nearly lost a tree…. much worse than anticipated. Gonna be stuck here for a while.

06-18-2015, 03:41 PM
Radar shows that Shirlington is still dry, but will probably get the southern edge of this cell.

Heavy rain and quite windy in the District now (White House area) - will wait a while and do the work thing a wee bit longer before heading out.

06-18-2015, 03:54 PM
There's another heavier band following

06-18-2015, 04:02 PM
The weather channel map on my phone shows this clearing out very shortly. Our tables are under the awning, so I think we'll be ok, just delayed somewhat. I'll be there by 5:15 or so.

06-18-2015, 04:16 PM
Radar is showing a more violent second wave. Be careful.

06-18-2015, 04:20 PM
I'm pulling out my snuggie. At this rate I'm never leaving work.

06-18-2015, 04:22 PM
On the bright side...working late today means I leave early tomorrow!

06-18-2015, 04:27 PM
I'm here. No one else yet. I'm cutting our number of reserved seats though. Just ordered one of the seasonals.
p.s. Rainbow sighting! And KWL just showed up. And now Ed C too. It's a party!

06-18-2015, 04:53 PM
CLEAR (mostly. sort of)

06-18-2015, 08:34 PM
CLEAR (mostly. sort of)

Don't recall seeing you there.

06-18-2015, 08:40 PM

A few of us made it, despite the rain. ;) Apologies for not getting everyone in the photo, especially Dickie with his sore shoulder and arm splint and KLizotte, who valiantly made it there with her leg splint and scooter.

It was a fun evening. Nice to meet Jeff, Erin and Kelly too. Hope you will join us again!

06-18-2015, 09:23 PM
Don't recall seeing you there.

Someone told me to come home. We went for a short walk. Do you know how long it take to take a 14 year old dog on a "short walk."

06-19-2015, 12:40 PM
I had a great time despite being a little damp! Thank you so much for organizing this Kathy!

@Arlingtonrider, I couldn't find the right thread for this, but since we talked about it during happy hour and I made a crudely drawn version of the Carlin Springs/W&OD proposed crossing (my version has it sitting on the Potomac River), here's a better version:

My proposal: a 6-foot wide path that uses the power plant access road and connects to the W&OD trail on the west side of Carlin Springs Rd. Connecting on the west side allows people to easily access Kensington St which has a paved side path leading to the Bluemont Junction Trail and the Mary Carlin Woods walking trail which leads to the Bluemont Junction Trail near the pool. The 6-foot wide path would be less likely to be mistaken by a driver for a road. The path would run around the chained off power plant parking area access.

maps of the current situation: overhead map with desire trails and satellite map

map showing the proposals (light blue is the rejected "meadow" path, red is my proposal that connects to the power plant parking lot)

here is the desire path that leads from the power plant parking lot; before and after my proposal
