I am just starting with the commute and I see that a lot of people commute from Falls Church to somewhere in DC. I will be commuting from almost Vienna to Georgetown via W&OD to the Curtis early in the AM. Anyone do this at 6-6:30am or 3:30 pm?

My direct commute starts from near the 4.5 mile post on the W&OD and ends in Rosslyn. I'm on the trails about an hour after you.

I'm also ride to/from DC, about an hour after you each way, but enter the Custis (NB: not Curtis) only at Lyon Village and ride it down to Rosslyn on my way to the Roosevelt Bridge. Sounds like your ride must be 13-14 miles, while mine is only 7 miles from home to work. I commute year round, rain or shine but not on ice.

By the way, sometime last weekend or just prior Arlington must have run a plow down the Custis trail.
(Thanks Arlington!) :D

Enjoy the ride, there are plenty of helpful bikers on the trails if you ever have a problem.

I pick up the W&OD around mile 7 and take it to the Custis. Now that I'm on a trike, I go down Mount Vernon to Memorial Bridge and up the National Mall to the RayGun building (14th and Pennsylvania). I'm on the trail at 0530.

Ride home I usually head south on Mount Vernon trail to the Shitlington (typo intended) Connector, then I ride the W&OD home. It adds a few extra miles. Afternoon commute starts around 4:30 or 5pm. I'm pretty hard to miss. These days I'm on a bright pink recumbent trike.
